Gorila resin glue

Thanks for that, have had a look and this appears to be a ready built wood display model with brass propellers ( on a paddle steamer ? ) I was wondering if it could be converted into a r/c sailing model but noticed the size is only 31 inches and I'm looking for
something about 1.48 th scale making the hull about 62 inches.
Many thanks for your help

Hi Felix
Unfortunately the Waverley search goes on , don't think it is going to come to anything now but will always have an eye open just in case. Looking around for a different model to have a go at but nothing jumps out with the required size / detail to keep
Me out of mischief and occupied for several months. if you should ever see the Waverley kit / part built ETC please let me know.

Gorila resin glue

Hi Haverlock,
Taken your advice dropped into Poundland today, and discovered they had a few
sets of epoxy resin in stock, I purchased three packets to see how they go, I ask if
these are a regular stock item it appears so, but they have been bought over by a South
African company so stock items may change.

Thank you for your help, and kind offer

Update

poundland have stopped listing the epoxy on their website BUT some of their shops still have stock I just bought 5 grins I would NOT use it for " mission critical " joints but for normal fixings its fine.

Over the years I have used a whole load of different 2 part epoxy resins and the most important factor is MIXING you should mix it then mix it some more.

For what its worth I am in the process of making model wheels and decided to try glueing them rather than solder. Used J B Weld for the first time and am very impressed.

I only one bought £1 shop type appoxy and. Bit I used it bond a propshaft. it turned opaque and eventually peeled off. But like all things 99 percent of the time it's fine for figures and fittings.
Tried gorilla and it's Sam as others, just marketing hype. Mostly I use "Wilko" stuff. (UK shop)

Gorila resin glue

Hi
THANK YOU ALL, for the great response and special "hi" to Havelock who assisted
me with advice in the past (ventilators delayed finish, due to health reasons but now
completed)

it was a touch of apprehension on my behalf seeing it in Homebase, against a model
shop which made me think is it up to model makers standards, unfortunately I could not
read the small print clearly on the rear of packaging.

How ever we have a Poundland shop 5miles from us my wife is going to go along
on Wednesday to see if they have any in stock.

Gorila resin glue

Hi Felix
I have been using Gorila resin now for a couple of years and have found it to be an excellent product, be ready to use as soon as you have mixed it as it very soon starts to set . Sets quick and once set can be filed, drilled, sanded Etc.

HI Felix, I think that the 'name' products maybe a better formulation, but I don't think we would notice the difference, except for the price. There is one thing, be aware fast cure epoxy is more brittle than long cure, look on the loctite website it gives a lot of information

Go to your local poundland they do the twin syringe resin glue at £1 ( one pound) so far as I can see most of the twin syringe resin setups are much the same so why pay more?

Their website is down at the moment but when it comes back on line I will post a link

Gorila resin glue

Hi,
I have noticed Homebase are now stocking Gorilla epoxy resin glue which is a two part mix
in a dual syringe, according to the label the quantity is 25ml the setting time is 5mins , with
a hardning period of 30mins the price is £5.60.
Has anyone tried/used this product, which could be suitable for those small quick jobs,
I purchased a similar product several months ago cost £9.90 plus a 28 mile round trip
guidance / comments would be appreciated.
