I have seen photos only of this model it looks really fantastic, unfortunately I can not
remember which website they were placed on.
Why not place an add in some of the model boat magazines, or have a word with a good
news agent who perhaps can give you a contact point for the suppliers of the kits
who may be helpful.

Hi Haverlock,
Taken your advice dropped into Poundland today, and discovered they had a few
sets of epoxy resin in stock, I purchased three packets to see how they go, I ask if
these are a regular stock item it appears so, but they have been bought over by a South
African company so stock items may change.
Thank you for your help, and kind offer

Hi
THANK YOU ALL, for the great response and special "hi" to Havelock who assisted
me with advice in the past (ventilators delayed finish, due to health reasons but now
completed)
it was a touch of apprehension on my behalf seeing it in Homebase, against a model
shop which made me think is it up to model makers standards, unfortunately I could not
read the small print clearly on the rear of packaging.
How ever we have a Poundland shop 5miles from us my wife is going to go along
on Wednesday to see if they have any in stock.

Hi,
I have noticed Homebase are now stocking Gorilla epoxy resin glue which is a two part mix
in a dual syringe, according to the label the quantity is 25ml the setting time is 5mins , with
a hardning period of 30mins the price is ยฃ5.60.
Has anyone tried/used this product, which could be suitable for those small quick jobs,
I purchased a similar product several months ago cost ยฃ9.90 plus a 28 mile round trip
guidance / comments would be appreciated.

HI Stephen,
Your suggestion of a small star next to their name is a very good suggestion, while there are
members who would possibly prefer to remain anonymous, this would remain their decision
However on the other side of the coin, if contribution was acknowledged by adding a small
star or such device, I am sure this would encourage others to contribute to the site
I am confidant most members understand to run such a really great website such as this requires
a large amount of time & finacial commitment.
You would certainly have my support and I am sure that many others also
Regards
Ray

HI Haverlock
Thank you for the information on the silver solder, is it supplied by model shops
or is it a specialised supplier (s) that stock it I have always used standard solder
But can see the great benefits in using different temperature solders for the very reason you have mentioned, I am no stranger to that senario believe me, along with the odd swear word
With regards to polishing I used Brasso but found the fumes off it a bit harsh
and throat catching, I will try the "t" cut

๐ The best small racing yacht?

HI Robo177,
Good idea the suggestion by Zippy, to purchase from Howes models as completed
build is good if you are unsure of building the Micro Magic yourself, but it is not a
complex kit to put together and once built you will know your Model
On the other hand there have been one or two on eBay recently at good prices
on two of them extra sets of sails were included.
Best of luck to which ever way you choose to go please let us know how you
get on once you have sailed your model yachts

HI Haverlock,
"My enquiries have fallen on stoney ground",
I am thinking of making the ventilators myself
as I only require two (2) to assist venting the motor compartment
Your Guidance was not all unfruitful it was interesting, going through the items
that are available, in fact I have taken a note of the site for my next project
Thank you

๐ The best small racing yacht?

HI Robo 177
I have two Micro Magics and have been sailing them for over 5 years, I recently
purchased a dragon force 65 which I have sailed twice to date, the micro Magic has
a short fin length and a total draught of 18cm and is a very responsive yacht in light
and heavy winds but takes a while to master, but once accomplished it is excellent
to sail, and very easy to transport, a big plus for me is the hatch is easy to remove to
replace batteries, and make internal adjustments if required, and only four easy turn finger clips (five on my racing model)
Four weeks ago the weed problem was very prominent on the pond but the Micro Magic
had no difficulty in sailing apart from two or three stands of weed around the fin after 2hrs of sailing ( the weed appears to be below the water surface )
Even the guys with the electric boats were having to remove weed regular from the
propellers,
The Dragon force 65 sails very well and handles well, but it would be unfair to try and
give a proper comment on this until I have had more sailing time with her, the draught
on the dragon force is 38cm both draughts are measured from my yachts as near as
possible carrying a standard battery pack ( 4x1.5v Duracell AA) 2.4 G receiver
But the deeper keel length did give me problems with submerged weed
pushed to give a choice it would be the Micro Magic, for
easy sailing on weeded water, and the dragon force for weed free water which
all though not tested by me, I would believe it would faster and easier to control and
master than the Micro Magic
Both yachts look very good, and easy to transport with the Dragon force 65 more sleek
in design, easy to sail which I believe gives the advantage of more responsive
handling and quick learning experience for the novice sailor

HI Haverlock
Thank you for the reply, I have tried numerous suppliers /sites over the last
three weeks, but none in the direction you have given me,
To answer your question why brass the project is a model 30s steam launch which
I have converted to electric power, with a dummy boiler and steam engine compartment which houses the motor.
All fittings are brass and exposed timber is varnished
Once again thank you for your guidance, and I will check these sites out

Felix
The Problem is now resolved thanks to a suggestion, guidance & time from Havelock
