What size are the motor mounting screws ?
to fit the 850 to the motor bracket.

I have not got mine yet so have nothing to try the hole sizes with yet..

In fact I don,t have any engine mounts yet thought I may be able to make some

Are you highlighting the link and then right clicvking and getting google to find it as it seems on this site you just cant click on it like you should be able to

Munich you might also salvage the Disc drive motors they should be small Brushless ones

Wierd! OK, try it this way start at
http://www.ebay.co.uk
Then enter
New 320A 7.2V-16V Brushed E#8 Speed Controller with Fan
in the search box. You should then get a choice of these ESCs.
Good luck 😎

Odd! Worked OK for me! 😎
Tip, if you want / need to add a fan to an ESC or whatever 😉
I've started collecting the mini 6V fans from old PC cards, graphics cards in particular.

I can not seem to get camyaj,S ebay link to work.

MFA Torpedo 850 motor

Hi camyaj
I have used similar and they do work well and I agree they can handle high currents.
I do have one reservation as the web link show Tamiya connectors to the battery and I believe these are rated at 15 amp when new. The Tamiya site has a discussion on connectors https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/56075-tamiya-connectors/
I replaced my connectors with Deans and have had no problems.

I use these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122489724489?ul_noapp=true

in my S-Boot and PT boat both driving 3x motors ie MFA 850's and Graupner 600's those Blue or pink ones I had trouble with as with Not electronize but the other ones. They are car ones and you could probably get similar ones in the UK . They may be chinese amps but they handle 40amps plus no bother

They are a reasonable cost.
I have seen a few so overpriced There not for the average modeler.

So I was hoping I would not get any recommendations for esc,s that were £100.00 plus to start with..

MFA Torpedo 850 motor

I have used Electronize ESC driving MFa 850's in my 54 inch Arun for 5 years with no problems and am putting the same system in my Tyne. As to cost, what is reasonable?

Hi Mark
I was refering to the Blue as shown in the link posted by Sonar, I should have made it clearer that Electronize are brilliant and I have never seen or heard of any problems.

Hi Dave M, the Electronize ESC's i was refering to are good for 24volts and i think 30 amps, the other reference was to the blue chinese esc's that had a nasty habit of smoking

I do a lot of stopping but smoking no more been just over 3 weeks.

Hence I have a little more to spend on my hobbies

I do a lot of stopping & smoking myself, it's very costly👍

MFA Torpedo 850 motor

I do believe the link is to ESCs similar to those Mark (jarvo) referred.
I have a box here with about six that have been pulled from club member's models. They all appear to work (in a fashion) but exhibit a range of problems in the model from erratic running, stopping to smoking.
Personally I would not use with any motor drawing more than 10 amps. Most of mine were used in fast models with big motors and seem to have lost the designed control spread resulting in little control from stop to full.
It could be there was a bad batch and Mark, I and my fellow club members all bought from the same sources as we all live in the NW. The very max volt is 12 so it could be a fully charged SLA caused the problem

The most funny thing is I have ordered two of them a week ago and there awaiting a new delivery of circuit boards

I have ordered the FR30HX Esc,s They should be o.k for the Bosch motors I have .

But So far as the torpedo 850 motors as yet I have nothing and that includes the hull...

But I will make something soon...

I was also considering these.

Hi Sonar, if you are running 2 motors, make sure you have good capacity in hand, these are powerful motors and need a good ESC to handle them, i used one with a chinese "50amp" esc and it produced magic smoke within a few minutes, changed to an Electronize and its run for 2 years now

MFA Torpedo 850 motor

I was told any brushed esc over 25amps by the guy from SH Grainger. Well, that's what he sold me to pair with the 850's he sold me at the international Model Boat Show at Warwick last year. I decided to go brushless after that, so, motors and esc's are sat in a box in the garage, so I don't have any practical knowledge, sorry. Just what I was told. Best wishes, Dave W
