Hi

The speed controller is an 80amp that will take up to 8 cell LIPO. I'm sorry I can't tell you any more than this as I bought it from a swap meet and I took the insulation cover off to water cool it so I don't have the sticker anymore that tells you the make.

HI all
I have looked at the Giantcod web site and can't find the particular motor listed. There is a very similar motor (XYHxx) at 800kv but it's out of stock. Rob is in China so can't ask him by phone.
Froggy was this a recent purchase?
I have just purchased the GC wattmeter and find it very useful. Measures the amps and wattage so I now know why my LiPo was damaged. Well worth the cost (ÂA£18 with p&p).
With the growing interest in brushless maybe we should start a new thread to share motor details and set-up.

Froggy, at the risk of sounding a nuisance, could you also tell which particular speed controller you used? I'm presuming that it is also from GiantCod, in which case there are more than several to choose from, and it's all a bit of a minefield to someone relatively new to the brushless scene (such as myself).

Many thanks in advance.

Thank's for that it was the Kv I was after as there are lots of 50/65 listed and I had not noticed them that low when I looked as they are all jumbeled up on Giant cod. it is a lot lower than we have been using so its worth a try to compare as the motors are changing all the time.

thanks again

HI sorry about all the questions but how many KV was the motor as there are a few 50/65 motors and as your boat goes so well its a good set up to copy to get good performance, also I am trying to get a bit of a data base together to better understand the way to go we have been using gearing and found that has worked BUT motors are Improving all the time and so are batteries so you have to move with what is working now.
Thanks

thanks for that. yes at the revs we use cast props are the only way but can be expensive to buy then find you need a few more mm or a few less so cheap props can be handy to get an idea, the difference a good brass cast prop from prop shop makes is worth the money and lack of vibration you get, the thing is to try and keep all your boats on similar props then you can try them off other boats, Paul found P M Devlin that the shaft needed to be updated to 5mm so all our supply of props where no good as they where mainly 4mm

HI Paul

The run time is about 20 to 25 minutes.
The Leicester run was the first run ever and Fleetwood was the second outing.
The prop was 65mm Roboesch 4 blade.
Not tried lipo pack as yet.
The 65mm was only a soldered up prop and it threw a blade, so I will be getting a cast prop.

HI Froggy, been looking at your sea queen videos with interest, very good! is the first video at Fleetwood the same set up as the later one in leicester?

As HS93 asked, what is the run time running flat out with the 24v nims? have you tried lipo out of interest?

That 65mm 4 blade prop is massive!!, is it a special prop?

Thanks

thanks for that how long do you get with that set up and how many KVAs is your motor as they list 3 motors of that size

thanks again

HI Both

The brusless motor is a 50/65 outrunner purchased from giantcod.co.uk with an 80 amp speedcontroller and 25v on Minh batteries - 3700mah.

It is the original Aerokits prop shaft and running a 65mm 4 blade prop. The Sea Queen is an original 60's one and has not been modified in any way.

I agree with Peter, Froggy that performance is quite outstanding. Please supply details of your set up:
Motor, speed control, battery pack and prop.

Its clear from the video that your motor has an excess of torque. Did you do anything to beef up the prop shaft or its bearings?

I'd love to see what it can do on a calm day.
