Having used this 'Poundland' two part adhesive for several days, doing a fair amount of work, in fact fully using a dual tube pack. I must report that I have been perfectly satisfied with it. The initial problem I had with it being difficult to squeeze out has gone, I think a day or two of accustoming itself to room temperature made all the difference. Will I use it again? Yes, I've already bought some.

Let’s “heat” this up, but not politcally😁
When I was building and flying rc combat about 15 years ago, I found that heating mixed epoxy will bring it to the consistency of water. Very nice for pouring in a confined space, etc. However, it will cure very quickly if this procedure is performed.
I also use baby powder as a filler in 2 part epoxy.

"...Could we please stop this now, I fully understand your point of view and I know we will never be able to agree....".

Certainly, if you wish. I was simply unhappy with the idea that the failings of one company should be taken to suggest that our current system of providing goods was inferior to one which we know not to work.

Incidentally, you will find me arguing for exactly your position on this econometrics board about a month ago. See here https://disqus.com/home/discussion/continental-telegraph/government_to_ban_introductory_offers/#comment-4506448074

So, given that we are in agreement here, I am not really sure that you 'understand my point of view'. I wish people would talk more rather than withdraw in disagreement - though I fully agree that other boards may be a better place for such discussions...

Dodgy Geezer. What you say is perfectly valid in a perfectly idealised free market system but falls down because the customer is unaware of all the variations in price of a given product. Of course large scale retailers constantly exploit this information gap by deliberately making comparison difficult by altering pack size offer ratios, fake offers etc. making it very difficult for the average customer to be able to compare accurately.

Forgive me for being somewhat cynical about this sort of thing but I've just had the annual charade of changing electricity suppliers and enough said on that subject!!!

Could we please stop this now, I fully understand your point of view and I know we will never be able to agree. I'd much rather talk about boats, model or real. Far more interesting and much more worth while talking about.

Doug , brake repaired thanks,
I use Zap Z-Poxy 15 min 8oz Epoxy Resin which comes in two bottles, however to ensure a correct mix I weigh the two components using jewelry scales which measure small amounts very accurately. I also use this method when weighing glass fibre resins and have never had any curing problems, and yes warming the bottles (or tubes) will help with dispensing.
PS. jewelry scales are really cheap (£4.50) on ebay and very useful.

"....although there wasn't a lot in the shops, what there was would be exactly the same price wherever you went to buy it...no wish to start a political argument..."

Technically, this is an economic argument. The provision of goods under capitalism depends on supply and demand. Price variations are the way this is measured and controlled. So, if a lot of people want to buy glue, there will be a shortage, the price will go up, factories will want to make profit and will therefore make more glue, and the supply will increase. Under a communist economy the price and the levels of production are specified by committee - and the result is invariably a shortage or a glut.

The capitalist process for providing goods is enormously capable. Think of lunchtime in London. The population is around 10m - half of which are coming into the city from elsewhere each day. And yet, not only do they all get fed at lunchtime, but they all get to eat whatever they want, making their choice only minutes before they have their meal. This is enabled entirely by the supply and demand process, driven by variable pricing.

I leave it as an exercise for the reader to imagine trying to provide the same service, or, indeed, any such service via a communist model.

"You're catching that German humour Doug"
Nein Johann 😉 Auf gar keinen Fall!!
It's the kind of humour I imported and introduced into my department.😂
Also came in handy sometimes breaking the ice or an impasse during tricky negotiations!😊
Bavarian humour can be a bit too slapstick for my taste, which is closer to the North Germans.
I had great fun with "transliterations" of their phrases and sayings. Still do!
Hope your aim is good via the mirror😮🤕

Dodgy Geezer said 'Socialism has a pretty poor track record of providing goods as well' that's arguably right, but in Ceaucescu's Romania, where I spent a lot of time in the '80's. although there wasn't a lot in the shops, what there was would be exactly the same price wherever you went to buy it.
Sorry, no wish to start a political argument, this isn't the place for it. We should be above such things.

Hi Nerys. DG mentioned a clamp and I thought one of these would be just the ticket. The only thing might be a twist tie over the end of the clamp and around the tube ends to stop it slipping off. You should be able to get a bit of leverage with this.

You'd love our Chinese $2 shops here Colin. I recently bought about 10 x 33ml tubes of genuine German UHU for $2 each (Hobby shop $10), plus I buy 90% of my superglue and epoxies from them as well. The epoxies are $4 but cheaper than big hardware stores (which sell the same Chinese stuff probably with different labels) Superglues work as well as more expensive ones such as Loctite which can be 5x the price.

The only thing is to remember which tube you used first.

Hi Nerys,
Maybe you could knock up something like this.
Put the twin tubes in so that the lip rested in position.
Fit it into the rest of the frame.
Then tighten the long bolt.
Sorry but drawing is not one of my strong points.

"....How true, that's capitalism for you and we are the victims...."

Socialism has a pretty poor track record of providing goods as well... :(

As RN says, running under a hot tap will improve things. And with the syringe, be sure to push evenly in the middle, otherwise the two plungers can get angled and jam.

If it's really stiff, I wonder if using a clamp to push the plunger in would help? And, of course, you should check that the two liquids have not merged together at the nozzle and set - thus blocking the outlet and making it impossible to get any out...

Sorry, I haven't made it clear. The system is the same two tubes together that Araldite use and you have to push both tubes down together and then the goo comes out of the two nozzles simultaneously. My poor old hands haven't the strength to do it and I can't keep calling Alice to come and do it for me, especially in the early hours of the morning when she's sleeping.

To help squeeze the tubes maybe a piece of wood dowel with a slot cut along its length (about 1")

My first experience of this adhesive is positive. I decided to test it on the plastic hull of a footy hull that's been kicking around since I bought it a while ago. Whatever I eventually do to it, a gunwhale would have to be fitted, so I glued in the first lamination of this.

After opening, I found it very difficult to squeeze the two tubes of adhesive out ready to mix. This I put down to a lack of personal strength, though I have no trouble with Araldite. I doubt if the
average person would have such a problem. I thought the adhesive might be a little thinner. I applied the mixed adhesive, then clamped the wood to the inside of the gunwhale, both sides of the hull. My impression was that it stuck fairly quickly. Left for some time (while I slept), I removed the clamps and am perfectly happy with the result. Whether it will always be so, I do not know, the test of time will tell, though I will have to find a way of squeezing the adhesive out. Whilst I think this a useable substitute, I will always keep some Araldite handy.

Hi Nerys,
My personal opinion is that no matter what hobby that you are into every thing is way to expensive.
I cannot see how they justify the price on many things (I think that greed comes into it)
So if savings can be made then all the better.

Thanks for the encouraging words Colin, the proof of the pudding will be in the sticking (as they say). I usually rely upon the proven product in everything but I thought this a chance worth taking. I am about, at the end of a sleepless first watch to conduct the first test. A report will be issued in due course.

Two part epoxy, I have been using the UHU self mixing syringe system purchased from poundland without any failures, also various branded syringe packs. So far I have only had one bad one which was an evostick version which said 5 minutes drying time, it took about five hours, but when it did finally set it was okay. As I am a pensioner I take care of the pennies, (I'm tight).

".... I went into my local 'Everything a pound' store today and found packs of two part epoxy resin, a la Araldite priced at , guess what?...."

My experience with the epoxies found in 'Poundland' (I expect that the same products will be found in many other cheap outlets)

1 - The epoxy you get in the dual syringe - works ok. Not particularly good at adhering to smooth surfaces. Remains a bit flexible.
2 - The epoxy you get in two separate tubes - does not work. Will not set.

I tried several different sets of the 'tubes' adhesive, several months apart. Got the same experience with them all.

Nerys, I think "similar" may be the problem in my experience you get what you pay for, I worked in an industry where we used epoxy resins and there are hundreds of formulated resins for specific purposes and they are not always interchangeable. So give it a try and do some samples of different joints with both types of epoxy and then do a break test to see what happens.

I'm probably late talking about this, but I went into my local 'Everything a pound' store today and found packs of two part epoxy resin, a la Araldite priced at , guess what? and there I've been paying £6.25 in my local Tool and Screw shop. Haven't tried it yet, but I see no reason why it should not be similar.

Grinding my teeth in annoyance,
