Calling all PS Waverly fans!😉
"We are excited to announce that Waverley's General Manager, Paul Semple, will deliver a live online Presentation entitled "Waverley - Achieving 2020 and Beyond" on Friday 12th February at 7:30 pm (GMT).
Paul will share the inside story of the recent boiler refit and the challenges which were overcome to ensure Waverley sailed in 2020.
Previously unpublished images of the boiler refit will be shared to illustrate the extensive work which was carried out on the ship - only possible thanks to everyone who supported the 2019 Boiler Refit Appeal.
Paul will also give an account of the additional challenges which were overcome in operating Waverley with Covid restrictions. An update will be given on the current winter refit work, the Covid-19 Relief Appeal and the tasks ahead if Waverley is to operate this summer.

To watch the presentation simply visit the PSPS Scottish Branch YouTube channel which can be accessed by clicking the link. There is no sign in, or password required. YouTube link:

Cut the funding for the "Royal" family - fund the Monarch only - not the hangers on. That should leave enough for Waverley's boilers ........... Cut MP expense allowances too..... i- they are overpaid anyway.

I can't imagine the UK government spending money on anything as sensible as a sail training ship, even if we had one, but a comparison could be HS2.

It's really peanuts isn't it!?
Repairs to the German navy sail training ship Gorch Fock were estimated, and contracted, at 10M Euro. Cost are now approaching 90M Euro and she's still not finished🤔
BTW We don't talk about Berlin's new (ha ha!) airport or the new Stuttgart railway station any more 🙄
(And certainly NOT the German air force's Government Transport Squadron or A400s!😮)

Evidently, Waverley's boilers are to cost £130,000, what is that in the terms of government waste? or, possibly half a dozen MP's expenses.

Heartedly agree ,only mentioned the Scottish government after what they said about backing the campaign, though not enough to dip into their pockets ,Edinburgh council could pay for the repair rather than the next instalment of the trams debacle (sorry for political rant)😀

Waverley is a national treasure. She gives pleasure to many people right around our coasts. Not only the Scottish government but the Welsh and, dare I suggest it, even in their impoverished state, the UK government could find it in themselves to pay for the whole thing.

I for one as a Scottish tax payer would be quite happy for the Scottish government to give the fund a little or a big helping financial hand .💰💰💰

That's great news, but it doesn't mean the money needed to pay for them has been found yet. Efforts should be redoubled to ensure a happy outcome and Waverley sails again.

Great news on the boilers they have been ordered.
The new boilers will be manufactured by Cochran Ltd at their Newbie works in Annan for delivery early 2020.

The appeal to save the Waverly was raised by Neil Bibby MSP(west of Scotland)at first ministers questions at the Scottish parliament with first minister Nicola Sturgeon stating " the Government (Scottish)is doing everything we can to support the campaigns efforts".
The community of Dunoon raised over £2000 at a fund raising event.
