Resurrection could be possible.

Hi Colin, how about your local school, must be a keen lad or ladette -(have to be pc) who would be happy to take it?

I only add photos first as I have the habit of forgetting them LOL!

Hi Martin, probably a better way to do it, (probably the way my brain works, - seem to want to do blurb first then pics,-like flying, I prefer to do left hand turns rather than right) I'll try and re-train myself although probably ingrained (done the same with emails forever)😀

Hi Doug, I've had the same problem on numerous occasions previously and have now resorted to copying the text before I start posting pics. It's odd, sometimes the text will disappear other times not, (sometimes the subject heading as well) but you just paste it in if it goes AWOL, (I do the same if I have to edit the post as well). Sometimes if you edit something it will stay the same, but I found if you refresh the page it sorts it.
Re Colins' ship,- all that string!! (visions of large magnifying glasses and lots of tweezer work) you'd need a lot of patience or you might end up being one of the patients at the happy farm!

Grrrrr😠
Just wrote some text, selected the associated photos and ...
ALL TEXT VANISHED GRRRRR!
So here we go again!🤔

Just downloaded the Billing Instruction Book.
Basic construction is basically the same as the Billing fish cutter I am currently restoring and converting from static to RC. So have already learned a few tricks in that respect.
Booklet includes all dimensions and details of the mast parts and spars so no problem there either. Masts and spars can be easily tapered from dowels on the mini lathe, or even at a pinch a mini drill clamped in a bench vice. So no insurmountable problems there, I hope😉

All the decoration and twiddly bits is another kettle of steamed fish though 😮
Are the fittings still there? See 3rd pic.
We'll see. maybe Colin finds a local taker!?
Kit seems to date from the early 80's. Just like my ancient fish cutter Gina 2.
Blog of my hull restoration for that is on this site😊
Cheers, Doug 😎

Hi Colin - yes please don't bin it - its a rare old piece - as a last resort you could email Billings and ask if they don't want it for their collection - were very grateful for a plan from me.

Hi Colin,
Don't bin it!😮
If nothing / no one else turns up, and all the plans are still there, post it to me.
Can't be too expensive. It's a long discontinued model and the wood must be tinder dry and light as a feather by now😉
Will PM you!
Cheers, Doug 😉

Well Red,
If no offers of a new home I'm afraid I will have to bin it.
I have tried giving it to the local charity shops but they don't want it.
I have just run out of room for a project of this size and beyond my skill set.
Shame but that's how life is in my area.
Cheers Colin.

Hi Colin - would love to take it on but would have to be in the next lifetime, collection could well be problem from here too....
Looks like what there is was fairly well made - be a shame to bin it - bung it on eBay if there's no takers - bound to be some interest .

Hi Nerys,
The Hull is fairly solid, but the planking at the bow is sticking out.
There's a lot of wood in the box, plus the plans and transfers, but I cant locate the mast or spar material. I'm no good at planking on hulls, so really needs to be someone who knows what they are doing.
Or making a shipwreck diorama may suit someone with imagination.
Failing to find anyone who wants it, it will be in the bin next weekend.
Cheers Colin.

I can't see any reason why restoration isn't possible, unless there's a lot we can't see in the photos. I really thought the hull looked quite good. There'll be a tremendous amount of work re-rigging her though. Best of luck to anyone who'll take the job on.

Hi guys, I have attached photos of the golden hind by billings.
It was an attic find and given to me by a neighbour who just moved in.
I'm afraid that I have to admit it is beyond my capabilities to bring it to life.
So if anyone wants it, and prepared to collect from Hereford, England. Its ready to collect.
Could be turned into a shipwreck diorama or finished off as a usable boat. What you see in the pictures is what you will get.
Cheers Colin.
