Far as I know Paul Spektrum don't have a combo RX/Stabiliser like that anyway, so I'll look for a source of the Lemon which is (allegedly🙄) DMX compatible.
Alternative is one which is compatible with the Turnigy / FlySky etc etc clones TX format.
Haven't heard of such a beast yet though🤔
What have you been up to lately?
(Oh really😮 naughty boy!😁😂)
Cheers, Doug 😎

Ah bad luck
Lemon gets good reports amongst the rc plane fraternity and so much cheaper than spektrum
Hi Paul,
Problem is that I can't even bind the Orange RX/Stabiliser to the TX☹️
Wrong protocol. The Orange RX is DSM2 only, and my TX is DSMX only.
Never the twain shall meet! 😭
I'm thinking of trying a "Lemon" version😝
Cheers, Doug 😎

Yes I've got blue and yellow the one you can see when its airborne ha ha
Orange stabilizer will work with dx6 they are a bit finicky to get working, you can't have any rates at all preset in tx

Yours is the blue & yellow version if I remember correctly Paul.
("as I recall Paul" sounded odd, so I changed it 😁)
Must dig out your mail about the tweaks again.
Seem to recall there was a YouTube link in it.
Bought the Orange stabiliser you mentioned, but it don't woik wiv my DX6 😭
Must look again for the Lemon version (and hope that it isn't one😮)
Wonder if there's a Pineapple flavoured version?😋
Finding enough grass in Munich with no human obstacles on it is the snag!
Thinks! Might be a disused Luftwaffe field just south of Munich I could try.
I'll give you your thread back now 😁
Cheers, Doug 😎

That's the one I have dynam with a couple of easy tweaks it's a pussycat!
Fly it off grass Doug to get your hand in on water it's more difficult.
Flies fine off grass, sand and so on
Yep! The Dynam version, Paul (pmdevlin) got me hooked on it after seeing his videos "Almost a boat" on this site. 1.5m span😮
Oops! We've digressed again😉

If you are meaning a Catalina Doug, don't be scared, it's only a boat with 'flying' ahead of it,😀

Here are 4 types we can get here (3 chrome 1 stainless, - the Dupli-color being the best - $19 NZ). I used the Dupli-color (Australia) on the chromed plastic tow ball covers on both my cars and it's still looking reasonable after a year outside in the elements. When you first apply it, it looks as close to chrome as you will get with paint, (perfect for a model). There is another US product which looks even better but costs $200+ US) and requires primers, black base coat and air brushing on.
There must be lots of similar products in the UK, just finding them might be the problem. Try asking a spray shop, if they don't know, no one will.

Hi Paul,
Yep, I've tried the Humbrol (and Revell) brass, bronze, silver and gold.
Not bad but even with polishing you can never get the proper mirror surface☹️
Like the stainless pins idea👍
On my Sea Scout I used 3mm tinted acrylic for all the windows.
3mm same thickness as the ply cabin walls so it was dead easy to get a nice tight flush fit😊
Process described in my Restoration Build Blog here.
Still have to decide how to do windscreen, especially the frame.
Will have another look in your Blogs (and Robbobs!)
Cheers, Doug😎
PS still haven't had the nerve to try flying the Cat😌
50 years since I last flew a model plane! Tempus fugit!
Might get around to at least taxiing trials if the weather holds.

Your right doug although the real boats where floating gin palaces back in the day and most did have chrome window frames it looks too much.
I'll be going back to polished aluminium which is easy to do. Humbrol do a range of about 4 metal finishes in the small cheap tins. I've used these extensively you brush on and it goes on real nice it dries in minutes then you buff with a soft cloth. I used small stainless pins for the rivet detail this giving them polished heads and scroungers off cuts from the local vehicle window tinters for the glazing which is clear plasticard except the front window and the windscreen which is 3mm lean for strength and rigidity

Sorry Martin but NO WAY!🤔
I recently tried a 2 part "chrome paint" sold as "ideal for plastic RC car / buggy shells".
Tried it on primed 0.5mm ply and on raw alu.
Came out looking like Hammerite Silver-Grey ☹️
Haven't tried it on plastic yet!
Back in my scootering days (Vespa GS160) I used to use chrome tape which really did reflect and look the part.
If I fit window frames to my Sea Scout I will go the same way as Paul - polished aluminium.
Chrome looks too "pimped up" anyway 😝
Cheers, Doug 😎

Perhaps the aluminium spray paint might give you the finish you are after.
Martin555.
If it looks right it probably is.
Difficult to see but look at the pic attached. Those vents, synonymous on the huntsman boats where vac formed in clear plastic card. Then painted from the inside using an American brand called alclad chrome, pretty much Impossible to get in the UK now but the finish looks just like mirror chrome.
All the car stuff from halfords etc is just bright silver and has no mirror reflection, over the top really but it's what I wanted.
Pretty much all model boat parts available are white metal or plastic, my first version had aluminium frames and too be honest looked better. The build log is on here somewhere from years ago!

I have just had a quick look on the net and there seems to be quite a few chrome paint out there.
Hear is a little link to one of them.

You may have to have a good look around and I am sure that there is one cheap enough for us model makers.
Martin555.
I have just noticed that car accessories shops and eBay do spray cans.
I don't know how good the results are.

Last time I refurbished or at least tidied the boat up, about 3 years ago, I realised it was impossible to find chrome parts or a rechromer who would do small parts. I stumbled across a northwest company called chrome illusion and after some badgering he agreed to put all my small parts in the paint booth next time he was doing chrome paint.
It's a treatment he has patented and its paint but the prep was the key.
Over time the metal parts have remained beautiful but the plastic parts such as the window frames have suffered, mainly due to water Ingress getting under the paint.
When I tidy things up I'm going back to a stainless finish on the frames as I think they look more subtle and less like bright silver paint

Hi Admiral,
Very good!
I do recall some time ago there was something like a chrome paint.
I have seen some scratch built luxury yacht models and I am sure that they would not take such delicate parts to a chrome plater.

thanks Guys,
Its a very self indulgent, selfish boat, takes up a lot of room on the water, makes a lot of noise (a while ago I was told you cant sail IC on this lake!😂)and for some its a lot of work for 10 mins running, but I love it.
After a long time in the box I noticed the chrome finish is coming off the window frames, so Ill have to fix that, sometime in the future!

Its been a while...…
I have been making an Aerokits Sea Rover for a deceased friends wife, he started it, I'm finishing it. I don't do scratch builds, I'm not one to say its enjoyable, to me it isn't! However, as the model has been progressing, and the current windy weather has stopped my flying rc planes, Ive been thinking about my Huntsman which has been in its box for about 2yrs.
Not long ago, I inherited two 8000mah brand new huge 6 cell lipo packs, and I've been wondering what I can use these for, forgetting that the Huntsman runs on 6 cells, usually two 3 cell packs either side of the motor, so today, weather was perfect for this boat. Bright, sunny, and windy, so I charges the batts up and went for a thrash.
The batts cant fit next to the motor, too big, so had to go in the cabin, so it was a bit bow heavy, until the speed picked up and it went on the plane. About 10 mins running, which is plenty for me, but thats generally going fast😎
If it wasnt for the fact its sooooo heavy, it would probably be faster, or run longer, I remember in testing, once it hits 25mph it gets very unstable, whicvh is where it is now😀
