Bad driving or poor maintenance with Bronington ?? Seems like they needed a supernumerary to check on the supernumerary.
Think this is what they thought might happen while she was still in commission.

Well, it did have the desired effect and he probably chose some tatty old ships he wanted out of the way, but it was a good old channel gale that finished the job.

" Drake couldn't get powder and cannon balls out of the queen and her government in 1588 to fight the Armada"
So that's why he set fire to the navy! Revenge!!

Hi Nerys,
"With that red cross on the bow, makes me wonder if the captain has done a first aid course with the Red Cross. " 👍
Made me wonder if the whole thing was just a hoax / camouflage and she's actually just a huge Hospital ship!! 🤔

"I think you forgot about the budget cuts, and you have the wages for the new Admiral to Find"
I'll follow the example of the Brazilian Navy (from 20 years experience negotiating with them😉). They are world champions at shuffling funds around between projects!!

Re- "forgot my camera "
What!! Consider yourself demoted to Sub Lt. for dereliction of duty Marky
Wot a cunning plan, let's build 2 islands on the carrier and people will think we have twice as many ships!😀😉

Agree with you Nerys - MOD have always been a crowd of stingy b......s - look at the troops in Afghanistan without BP vests .........and the closing of dedicated military hospitals with a woman patient complaining of the noise a wounded soldier was making........
Always leave it to the people on the ground to make do - be a good thing if they took the fellows in Whitehall out to Bovington and got them to march across the tank testing ground without any protection............

Being stingy about supplying ships is nothing new. Drake couldn't get powder and cannon balls out of the queen and her government in 1588 to fight the Armada, so there is good precedent in not equipping our latest aircraft carriers properly. Also, why call a ship 'Prince of Wales', look what happened to the last one, sunk with the battle cruiser 'Repulse' in December 1941 by Japanese torpedo bombers.

Agreed Nerys☹️
If the stingy Government had shelled out a few more shekels for the catapults and arrester cables we wouldn't be in this mess🙄 Then we'd have had a free and wide choice of carrier capable aircraft (including the full load capable F35) instead of being stuck with the F35B which due to STOVL mods, making the internal weapons bay smaller, can't carry a full load. Thus more armament must hang outside ruining the highly praised stealth qualities. Government logic!!

So, now we have two aircraft carriers. The last I heard was that other ships were being laid up in order to find a crew for the 'Queen Elizabeth' and we wouldn't have the planned aircraft for her until a couple of years time, when the Americans deign to make them.
Take it, nothing has altered and the same applies to this ship.

Wee trip to Queensferry to se HMS Prince of Wales pass under the three bridges ,they had to wait for low tide and lower the mast to get under the bridges clearance was 2 metres, weather was a bit miserable with rain and mist very impressive sight though ,forgot my camera wife may have some pic's on her phone.
Cheers Marky👍
