Oil for prop shafts

I tend to use Lithium based grease. Works well and no pollution
Only old in years not mind or soul.

Before using any type of oils, do a test on a bit of scap painted with what ever you used on the hull. Found out the hard way with the bottom of one of mine. White lithium grease seems to be the best.

Oil for prop shafts

I just use white lithium grease as all my boats are slow movers or auxiliary motors in sailboats. The comments about drag are probably quite valid, if I ever build something quicker I will have to try the oil mix with grease!

Oil for prop shafts

Hi.
I use as shown in the pictures attached.
The oil in the bottle is my favourite which is just a little thicker than three in one Which I also use.
The silicone is also really good and for my use doesn’t really affect the drag factor.
Regards Bill.
Never give up.It will come right in the end.

I use multi purpose grease and mix in some 3 in 1 oil.
Then inject it in to the shafts using a syringe.

If it looks right it probably is.

Fitted shaft oilers and inject a squirt of light oil prior to each days use.
Found grease has too much drag
