Brave borderer torpedos

Making new torpedoes is one of the many jobs that I will have to do on my Perkasa rebuild, when I make a start on it that is.
Broom handles are what my Dad and I used to make some from, back in the 80s, when we originally built the model. These were lost (or whatever happened to them) with the person I sold it too and then years later, bought it back off.

The real Brave Borderer was moored up in the Cleddau estuary many years ago and I can remember seeing her from the boat when out on the river with my parents.

Brave borderer torpedos

Hi Rogal118,
Looking good.
When you get used to your lathe you will wonder how you ever managed without it before.

If it looks right it probably is.

Brave borderer torpedos

After having some success building the twin orekelon gun for the stern of the brave borderer, I had toyed with the idea of making 2 torpedos for each side of the deck, these items are readily available to purchase, but thought I could do as good a job. The only stumbling block was the tapered rear end. I had successfully made the front end using 18mm plastic tube with a domed end cap.
The next bit of luck came last week when I acquired a small Myford lathe, so using a piece of the wifes broom handle ,turned 2 tapered rear ends, I then made 2small 4 bladed props and 4 fins, fixed in position I was pleased with the result.
Next using the photos supplied be our friend Rowen in Canada I made up 2 racks for the deck to hold the weapons in place, they may not be perfect ,but using a bit of modellers licence I think they are acceptable if you don't put you glasses on and view from the lake side, anyway see photos below this may give others a bit of help.
