Hi Bill, Early hours of Thursday morning, just watched both programmes. Found the 'People's Liners' very interesting as I experienced the Bristol Channel paddle steamers both pre and post war. There was another hot bed of paddlers, the Thames Estuary, where the 'Eagle' steamers came down from London to Southend and on to Margate and even going cross channel at times and The Medway Steam Packet Company operating from the Medway Towns to Southend and Margate. In post war years there was the 'Medway Queen.' 'Queen of the Channel' 'and Rochester Queen'.
'Medway Queen ' has had extensive rebuilding and is the subject of major restoration.
Back to the Bristol Channel and 'Balmoral' is still laid up in Bristol, but did receive a small government grant last year. I understand a dedicated band of volunteers are working on her restoration.
So, all we can do is to say 'Three cheers for the Waverley'.
