Hi Rob, I've found some good logos etc on line, and have found that if you have a super clear photo of an object or logo, it will come out perfectly. I get my paper from Decal Paper.com.au, they specialise in printing, sublimation etc and have a very good range and pricing. I've made quite a few of my own as well,- mainly decals which are no longer available, such as the 70s Graupner decals on my repro Graupner Piper Cub. I need a better drawing/art program, as 'Paint' is a bit limiting. Took about 5 hours to 'remove' the Tuatara on the airboat from its' background colour on the original art work, but it was worth it in the end. A better program might have been easier.

Hi Doug.
I did post the PDF graphics sheet for the life raft containers decals right at the start of this thread and they are in a variety of sizes too 😀.

Hi Rob,
I'm sure that many of us can use your decals, including lil ol me 😉
Can't you just post the pdf file in this thread?
Like I did with the pdf of ship's instruments that I got from Zedenek?
See attached 😉
Cheers, Doug 😎

Much appreciated Rob, will let you know when I have received them, and on how I get on, I'm going to print them on my colour laser and see if they come out OK.

Hi JB.
The decals are reasonably easy to generate from freely available logos and images on the web and I am usually able to generate any that I can't find.
I use Adobe Illustrator which makes the job quite easy 😀.
I print my decals on paper that I get from 'Mr.Decalpaper' on either clear or white background sheets using a Canon MG5750 printer and the results are exceptionally good.

Looks excellent Rob, really brings them up. It's great what you can do with a printer and a piece of paper these days, (where was this years ago!?) Gone are the days of tiny paint brushes and magnifying headbands. These sorts of decals were only mainly available with kits or set sized sheets, and most didn't last long before they disintegrated,- being very thin material.
This modern material is way better, and makes it possible to do whatever your printer can print. Makes models much more realistic, and as you said, can add 'bling' to an otherwise plain object. I've found it indispensable for my R/C planes (and boats to a lesser degree).

Hi Martin.
There's something to be said about sploshing preservative over a fence panel that is quite satisfying as it doesn't require quite as much finesse and a steady hand as when painting model boats 😆.
I can do a 6' x 5' panel in ten minutes....two coats !! 😂🤣

Rob,
It is that sort of detail that makes your boat look so real.
Awesome work, But i bet you prefer painting the garden fence LOL!!!

If it looks right it probably is.
My Southampton Pilot Boat is finished, as can be seen in my build blog, and I'm awaiting a new build project to materialise so in the meantime I have been catching up with domestic DIY and gardening.
However, as nice as it is to do all of that it is quite tiring and so by way of a bit of respite I thought I'd take a break and sit quietly, and make up some graphics for the life raft container on the pilot boat as it did seem a bit bare.
Unfortunately I don't have any clear 'photos of the graphics on the real boat's life raft so I've had to use a large degree of 'modellers licence' to simulate what seem to be the ones most commonly seen.
After looking at lots of 'photos of life rafts I assembled a set of graphics on the containers that I researched and also made up some others that I could not find.
I used Adobe Illustrator to make up a sheet of these graphics in various sizes and printed them out on some clear decal paper and sprayed some gloss lacquer over the sheet.
They were applied to the container using some setting fluids and when dry I put some black banding cut as very thin strips from some self adhesive vinyl. All of this was over coated with some more clear lacquer to fix and protect them.
Fitted back on the boat they certainly enhance the look of the life raft container 😁.
If anyone would like copies of the graphic artwork that I have made for my boat I would be very happy to supply a .pdf file on request. All you would need to do is print from the file onto suitable decal paper to make your own.
I attach the PDF sheet of these particular graphics as an example.
'Spose I'd better get back to painting the garden fences now ....☹️
