Thanks. I based it on a method shown by a guy on the Mahem forum. Thin planking, 0.5mm thick, is glued onto a thin ply base which is then glued onto the deck. One advantage of this method is, that as you do it off the model if you are not happy with it you can do it again. I had to do this with my Huntress as it is a bit fiddly and the planks can split as you force them to curve.

More information is given in my builds on the Model Boats Magazine forum under Build Blogs.

I agree about the size, I had one of the 1:8 ones, which was a lovely model, but found it too cumbersome to move around and launch. Yours will be a nice size.

I'm building mine at 1:12 to match a Huntress I have, as well as a Swordsman, which at 33" is nearing the limit of how big I want to go. I do intend to build something around 35" but that will be it.

I bought the 1/16 scale drawing. Boosted that with 50% on my scannner. Printed that out

    Hello, it’s about 89cm 35inch
Just thought 1/16 was to smal and the 1/8 to big 😬

Interesting scale, not come across one of that size before, which must be about 37" long. I'm guessing you adjusted the size of some existing drawings?

    Following with interest.

    Hi renew,

This is my collection of data for a Huntsman/swordsman that I restored.
Good luck with the build I think a wooden version will go better than the Fibreglass one, I had as underside was too curvy for speed.

    Regards Roy
