About this boat

A build of a Pacific Northwest (PNW) log tug, the Dorothy Mackenzie. I purchased this “ kit” from a friend in Ca in the US. I say kit but it is a collection of well cast parts originally sold by Gary King. Built with a suppled drawing but no instructions other than advice from my CA friend, Gary, and Umi Ryuzuki. Also searched a lot of photos of Dorothy builds constructed by others. Not sure I will name her Dorothy as I have strayed from true to type details in some cases. That partially because I have been told the log tugs are now repurposed for tasks other than towing log booms. Hope to finish her up while in Fl as well as pairing it with a Taranis X7 radio.

I saw that pug tug advertised a few days ago and thought it was very interesting. Glad to see someone on this forum got one. Thanks for posting.

A small bit of progress. Completed installation of fendering retainers & some rail work.

Finishing touches. I consider this one complete. Sorry. Last photo was mistakenly included. Can’t seem to eliminate it.😠 Woo, hoo! Just got rid of it.👍

Sorry I don’t understand well your post.
Is this an old model you bought from a someone or is a kit you build?
Anyway it is a nice looking tug and I also believe once you get your artistic hands on it, it will look even better.

Thanks to all of you. It was a fun but very challenging build. The parts included in the “kit” were all very well fabricated but required a lot of research & head-scratching to turn out as Gary King intended. Have to say, it’s not a novice build.
Chug; as mentioned above it was sort of a kit. Fortunately I had several knowledgeable people, including Gary who were familiar with PNW tugs & gave me extremely good advice.
Everything, hull, deck, etc was in unfinished form.
    Well worth the effort! 👍

Beautifully done, as usual Bill. We will see her at Scarborough?

Thank you TG. I think it will show up in Scarborough. I’m looking forward to that outing.
