Another airboat, this time made from a 33" x 18" foam body board, and powered by a TGY3542 1000kv 38A outrunner with a pusher prop, and 3s 4000mah LiPo

Hi Rod, a few more pics of the layout, size is 800x460 (built to be a camera/rescue boat) ESC is in a waterproof box on the stbd side, ESC is an aircraft 40A in the center, - motor -TGY 1000kv 3542/6. battery is a 3000 or 4000mah 3s LiPo which sits between the motor mount pillars. Rudder is on the port side deck, -servo is 'waterproofed' by cracking the case screws slightly and forcing some vaseline in the gaps and lead grommet, and re tightening, and plastering it round under the output shaft. Got dunked a few times in the salt water test, and seems to work well.

Motor/rudder frame is one unit and is mounted on 4 large dowels sunk into the body board and epoxied in (used f/glass epoxy, as some 5min Chinese ones melt foam๐Ÿ”ฅ) I've used twin rudders on both my airboats, as I found one rudder was pretty useless (need to trap the eflux from the prop at its' most effective diameter,- widest part of the blade.). Imagine a dougnut of air coming off with the center doing nothing.

Still have to put some small strakes on the bottom to stop it sliding too much, and I've adjusted the motor with some up thrust to push the back down (down thrust for a tractor setup) Thrust needs adjusting correctly for better control,- too much down thrust makes them uncontrollable at speed,- spin too easily.

The other airboat blog is under- Airboat, getting back to it - in the build blog search, or just search airboat. let me know if you want more info.

That's a nice innovative use of a foam body board jbkwi ๐Ÿ‘

It would be a bit too big for me to use here on our small lake......but I really like the idea!

Pix are not really clear. Do you hav a static, close-up? Air prop is common for rescue boats, I wud really like to see your details.

Yours is much larger than anything I've seen up close
