I bought this boat from our local model shop Rossendale Models about 20+ years ago to use before I had time to restore or build another Classic Model Power Boat for myself to run.

The boat was an 80cm long ARTR model boat from Volantex that was current at that time, and it gave me the chance to run an r/c model boat before I had anything else that was ready to run on the Southport Model Boat Club lake.

Although the boat is quite “brisk” it is not uncomfortably fast and runs very smoothly and quietly with very little water surface disturbance.

In more recent years this model has been replaced by Volantex with another quite different boat with the same Vector 80 name, and I understand that the newer (still current model) boats are raced locally in their own class at the Bury Model Boat Club lake .

I suspect that this boat would not be able to keep up with its more modern decedents, but it remains a very pleasant and relaxing trouble free boat for me to “run for fun” now and again
