About this boat

Resolve was a class of ocean going tug built for the Admiralty just after WW1. The model is built from the Caldercraft kit and I am really pleased with the way it has turned out. The many white metal parts are of good quality and as you can see, there is much detail, all included in the box.
At the time of writing, the closest she has got to the water is for her hull only sea trials where she performed well.

The cardboard box you see contains the many white metal parts to give some idea of any extra ballast required.
She is currently gathering dust in my garage whilst I impatiently await for some kind of normality to return.

Thanks. My vessel will now be manned and ready for maiden voyage, hopefully within the next couple of months.

I am rapidly approaching completion of build. Looking good. However, I have yet to find a crew of the correct scale. Have searched the net, without success. Any suggestions.

Thanks Bill. Yes, I meant to mention that when I introduced the video, sorry.
He is just having a 'quiet moment' between watches, away from all the hustle on the bridge.

Hi Pete. Thank you. I must say, I am really pleased with the end result.
As for the smokers (Graupner 6v units), I have just wired them up as per instructions.

Thanks Martin. The ballast is two 7.2v lead acid batteries which I only install prior to launch. This is due to the weight which I find difficult to manage at my age.
I have considered adding more ballast, but the amount of extra weight, I feel, will be considerable, to displace the required amount of water.
Might experiment with a launching trolley.

After following your build log it is nice to finally see her on the water.

Maybe a little more ballast is required though.

    Excellent job.
    Well done.

At last, after months of enjoyable building, I was able to launch the finished model and as promised, a video of the day.

Many thanks to the photographer, Chris, aka Octman.

    Steve.
What a superb example of the boat building craft.
I dread to think how many hours have gone into her.
Is that sailor leaning on the stern in the white jersey the one I sent you a few months ago?
Congratulations on a job well done.

    Brilliant, superb job Steve👍👍👍
    and I'm a CCR fan too 😊
    A tip/word to the wise-
Lightly drape some cling film over her to keep the worst of the dust off😉
Here's hoping for an early Sea Trial🤞
    Cheers, Doug 😎
