Hi,Thank you so much for all the advice,it is most helpfull,I will have a look at some modern naval warships, but I quite like the idea of a patrol boat, going with one prop and motor is I think a good idea for a first time build and your advice on marking out on paper is really usefull. No doubt I will be back with more questions, but I have quite enough to be going on with.Once Again thanks for your time and patience, with help like this I am sure I will get there.I am so glad I found this site.
    Thanks Once Again,
    Regards as always, Pete.

HI Again,I do not have any pictures of the hull but if you would like to see it have a look on E-Bay,type in model boat hulls, about 3/4 down first page you will see listing for large model boat hull,5 foot long,GRP ยฃ35,see sellers other items it is there, says suitable for Destroyer,Frigate, aircraft carrier, passenger liner etc.49" long,11" beam,8" deep, this is the hull I am waiting to be delivered. As I said I am not looking to do a detailed model, just a copy with a lot of artistic licence,The actual structure I am not to worried about, its the running gear I don't quite get yet, this is why I would like to keep it as simple as possible,as in,battery, speed controllers, with motors, shafts and props all in direct line,if it means smaller props and different size motors that would be fine, like I said I have not bought these items yet.By all means please have a look at the hull, see what you think would be an suitable model to build on it,I am open to any ideas.Once again thanks for all your help.
    Regards Pete

HI Dave,Like I said earlier I am new to boat modelling so am not sure of what I need, the model battlecruiser I was thinking of building was going to be based on a pre-formed resin hull which is 49" long with a 10" beam, perhaps I have got it wrong and cannot build said model on this hull.It is not a problem as I have not started to build yet,I could do any other type of navel vessel,I have seen a model of the aircraft carrier HMS ILLustrious built on the same hull, and just thought if it was a big enough hull for that it would be big enough for the Battlecruiser,Oh well back to the drawing board as they say, lol,Thank you so much for your input,if you could suggest any model I could make with this hull, and a simple running set-up for it I would be very greatfull.
    Regards as Always Pete.

HI Dave,Thanks for responding, the boat I am building will be a loose copy of HMS Repulse,as it was a ship my Grandfather served on during the war,it is I am sure you know a Renown class Battlecruiser

HI All,I am In the process of building my first boat and collecting all parts I shall need, mostly from E-Bay as there are no model shops locally. The running set-up that I am thinking of using Is as follows:- 12v lead acid battery,Two 600 size Johnson 6-12v motors,4mm shafts with 50mm props, could someone please tell me If this sounds workable and If so what size speed controller I would need, also do I need a speed controller for each motor,or will one serve two motors.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards Pete.
