Again many thanks for your kind words but I am feeling guilty that I hijacked rowy22's thread and I apologise to him or her. Sorry.
Dave.

Just one more showing the sun shade attached to the mast, taken before the internal cockpit detail was added, and a (poor) pic of the gun on the full size boat.
Many thanks for all your kind comments.
Dave

Yes you would think so. I have a few photos of the full size boat with the gun mounted and there is no sign of any safety bars. I suspect that the gun was mainly used to intimidate the smugglers in boats. The skipper may have thought that as it would not be used against fast moving aircraft it was pretty safe. The fact that no anti-aircraft gunsight is fitted would tend to support this theory.

Hi all,
Just a few pics of 2755 in tropical colour scheme. Built from Vic Smeed plan.
The Oerlikon was "borrowed" from the navy for anti smuggling duties in the Maldives but as far as I know was never fired in anger!
Dave.

My wife is an amateur dressmaker and drags me round haberdashery shops. I'm surprised at the useful stuff that can be found on the accessories shelves...

PS. Don't forget to rough up the back of the plasticard with medium wet and dry paper to give a "key" for the glue.

I have used Unibond Repair Extreme, not cheap but I suspect nothing short of a hammer and chisel will shift it! Some people use a 2 part epoxy but I prefer something with a bit more flexibility.

I mostly build the main structure from thin ply and then skin it with thin plasticard. This double thickness gives a strong, light and neat finish . You can cut all the window and door openings into the plasticard and then glue to the ply backing. Note - use strong glue or it could delaminate in hot sunlight!

Sorry, should have said that the Oerlikon and life raft are also commercial parts.

HI Damon, I bought the plan in the 1970's and finally got around to building about 5 years ago. Apart from the large vents and the hatches ( modified Mac's Mouldings) all the rest is scratch built, mostly ply and plasticard. Took about 3 years to build. I tried to post some more pics but it seems that you can't add to an existing post.....

HI Mike,
Sorry for taking so long to reply but my PC died and am now using Windows 8 - nightmare.... ๐
Not sure of the date of the plan but somewhere in the early 1960's I should think.
Will try to take some more pics and post them shortly.
Digger.

HI All,
Thought you might like to see some pics of my RTTL. 35" long and built from the Vic Smeed plan. She is powered by 2 belt driven 480 motors with 2 speed controllers and 2 7.2 NiMH batteries. Based on the boat stationed in the Maldives in the 1960's.
Dave.

HI Gerry, as others have already said it is a Vosper Rescue and Target Towing Launch (RTTL). if you would like to see the real thing there is one preserved at the RAF museum at Hendon.
