I have been reading about how the high street shops are suffering in regards to sales.I wish to plead guilty as i purchase most of my model boat kits and parts online ! The shop keepers have high rates and running costs etc when compared to some online retailers .I purchased online a 4 channel transmitter, receiver and 30amp esc from china for around £40 as this would cost double from a uk retailer its no wonder there are very few model shops left but as an Oap i look after the pennies. All the chinese parts are excellent and work well. I would prefer to buy local and enjoy a walk around a well stocked shop but difference in local retail prices and imported items is now too much.Model shops of my youth are sorely missed.
i had a damaged thread on my new artesania tug boat kit propshaft ? i have been sending an email every week since august .They agreed to replace the part but have never posted the part to me ? i have purchased another shaft but will continue to email artesania for(ocd) the hell of it ! yes i need to get a life ?

I knew nothing about sailing but this yacht has rc sail winch and rudder. I am learning sailing terminology like jybing,in irons, halyards, sheets, lines, tacking, close haul and more.
What defines a model boat suitable for inclusion in your model boat website personal fleet. my boats are kit built models but could i include a speed boat or a yacht that is purchased as a completed boat, factory made and ready to go ? members views / comments welcome.
[Score: 8/10] 36"/2000g fair wind Capable of 3mph and a runtime of 15mins Powered by NiCad (6v) 3Amp/h Batteries - Comments: kyosho fair wind yacht .This is getting on for twenty years old,it is a big yacht wth a main mast and sails that is over 4 feet high. The electrics are futaba and it has two servos fitted one for the rudder and the other is for the sails. The hull is Abs with the mast and booms made from aluminum.I purchased this in a poor state with problem electrics and in need of tlc.
This yacht was purchased on a whim ? i spotted it for sail locally and thought it was about 30 inches high. i had a shock on collection as its over 40 inches high and 3foot long.lt needed some attention to the electrics and transmitter and a lot of tlc. i think its big enough for my jack russell to curcumnavigate the world single footed !
aero-naut mowe 2 kit. my first rc model boat with a few extras. The kit was ok to build but the prop coupling was a length of silcone tube ? it spun off at the first test run. This was the start of me fitting universal couplings to my boats. The company were being mean using a cheap piece of tube.It runs very quiet and smooth but needed a lot of front end ballast .i made this to try and drag my grandson away from his ipad, phone and the game of fortnite .I tried to get him to help build and run it but to no avail.I now am enjoying a second childhood building boat kits !
made from a krick felix launch kit.As usual i have made slight changes especially in regards to the final finish of medium oak stain. The original windows were cut from a sheet using templates provided and some did not fit as they were on the small side.i used some plastic sheet i had to make my own replacements.I also changed the prop coupling for a universal joint(i always do) I prefer the less is more approach to some models.
artesania kit of the tug samson .I always fit extra bits and pieces as i like to have individual non scale additions made from kit scraps attached or small resin items. They class this model as suitable for the inexperienced,i believe there should always be an adult to assist. The steel propshaft thread was damaged and i found the prop coupling is a bit cheap. The end result was excellent and the tug performs well
