Morning Dave, the rudder servo works fine so that's that one out. I do have another motor that came out of an old rc glider, the motor is a simprop Power-Speed 1500-10 12 volt. I'll try this one later today and post the out come. Thanks for your help Dave Steve.
Hi all, joined the forum just over a week ago. I have a billings White Star Rc boat which I am re furbishing. The boat is about 15 yrs old and been sat on a shelf in the garage for most of that time. I have been asking lots of questions and been getting lots of advice. Thanks guys.
Hi Dave, Radio is new 2.4 so am I right in thinking that rules out the interference ? The 8.4 battery that I also tried is also new and the same was happening with that battery plugged in. I think I am going to try a New 7.2 volt 3000 mah battery and see how that goes and if I still have the problem the look at perhaps a new motor which has been in the boat for over 10 yrs and sat still for 90 % of that time.
Hi guys I'm looking for yet more help and advice. My billings white star has a MFA RE 380 7.2 volt motor with a viper 15 amp 6 to 12 volt esc, a 9.6 volt rc car battery. I have just tried the boat in my pool only to find that after 10 feet the motor cuts out. I have checked the motor to see if it's getting hot, it's not, checked the esc for the same and that is cold. I have also checked the battery and that is still charged, I also tried another battery 8.4 volt 3000. Still the same. Your thoughts would be great please. Many Thanks. Steve.
Sorry its taken a few days to reply but spent a few days in bed with an inner ear problem. Any idea what size motor and ESC I should go for ? the motor that's is in the boat is a MFA RE 380. Many Thanks Steve
[Score: 5/10] 21" White Star Single Propellor (2 Blade S Type 40mm) Direct Drive to a MFA 380 (2 Blade S Type) Powered by NiCad (8.4v) 3Amp/h Batteries Controlled Through Mtroniks viper 15 (15Amps) ESC - Comments: I got this boat off of a model boat club member for my son about 15 years ago, he used it about six time the put it on the shelf in the garage and that's where it has sat ever since. so the other day lifted it down and looked at it, dusted it off and going to see if I can get it working, if so happy days I'll play with it till I can get something of my own.
This may be silly but if you push the hull into sand to get the shape of the hull, you could then lay a plastic bag or polythene in the hole made by the shape of the hull, you could then pour in some plaster Paris (not sure of the spelling !!) or a fibreglass liquid to make a mould which you could keep. I know silly idea%uD83D%uDE0A%uD83D%uDE0A Steve.
Hi guys, please can I have your views on battery types I should use please. I am in the process of refurbishment of a billings white star which is only a small boat with a 3 to 7.2 volt motor in it and a viper marine 15 ESC. I have a couple of NiMH 9.6 volts 8 cell batteries and a NiMH 7cell 3000 mah battery. Are any of these OK to use or should I be looking at lipol batteries and if so what size? Thanks Steve
Thanks Mark I'm in the process of sorting out the boat which has been aground for about 10 years and is looking a bit sorry for itself. It's a Bilings White Star which I got for my son who used it about six times and has sat on the shelf ever since. Regards Steve.
