Yes for white top and grey sides ,number i suppose you can leave as is or make one up but none of the craft while i was in the RAF had roundels on the stern sorry i cannot remember if there was anti slip on the decks or not but the new type pinnace did not have anti-slip they were made of teak and so were the RTTLs . Sorry i can`t give you anymore information as it it is 50years since i left and the memory is`nt quite as good as it used to be. good luck with your refurb`and when i start my buld i will let you know how it goes. Hi NPJ . have just read your blogs re RSL. I spent twelve years in the RAF on Marine craft and was the coxswain of RSL 1662 the boats in the uk were painted black and overseas were painted white, they did`nt carry any fire monitors and no radar while i was in the RAF ( came out in1968)they did have the sweep searchlight. if you search for RAF boats you can see a picture of 1662 leaving the jetty in Londonderry. They were used officially for keeping the bombing ranges clear of all shipping when the ranges were being used but mostly used while i was in the RAF for ferrying personal about. 1662 was used for ferrying RAF aircrew to Naval ships anchored at Magiligan point and bringing Naval personal back to Londonderry to be taken to Ballykelly airbase where JASS ( joint anti submarine school) was joint meaning European and American ships and aircraft. I have the plans of the rsl and hope to build it over the winter months .
the y were powered by two Rolls Royce C6FM diesel engines with teleflex controls and had a speed of 22 knots.Hope this gives you a little insight of the use 0f RSLs
