I should watch out with using lipos with the sea sprint esc as had two blow up and hobbystores had to replace them. they were being sold cheap as printed material said that you could use lipos but the power does them in after a little while. regards steve

hI grandadave, if you are talking about the prop going forwards and backwards, then it is the speed controller that handles that. I just put a mtroniks 15amp esc in it and that handles the forwards and backwards no problem. After that it is sorting out the transmitter or just get a cheapy car one off ebay as they have forwards and backwards on them. regards steve

Dear Graham, I think they are lovely boats, I don't know if you had to tinker around with ballast like I did cause of being so top heavy, even with a 6v sla battery in it. I took out the original m3 propshafts and put in m4 and far more robust. regards steve

Dear Brian, The guy whose build blog I followed somewhat had 4 attempts at the bow thrusters through one problem or another, so I decided not to get the bow thruster to work. The one thing to scale that I have working is the pods and have little motors in them which I am really pleased with. One good idea I came up with which is being copied at boat club is a magnetic detachable keel, so I can still use it for display. I just simply hot glued two small industrial strength strip magnets inside hull and then the keel which is a length of copper tube with two uprights soldered to two steel squares and it just simply attaches under neath and it works lovely. I will get around to getting it videoed but am recovering from having part of spine removed and have about forty or so bits still to put on , handrails etc and 100 scale passengers to put on. I live in southampton and quite often see the qm2 and other ships come in and out of town which is great to see, God are they tall. regards steve

HI Dave its an old billings boat that came out over twenty years ago that I won on ebay last june, I believe they stopped making it some 10 years ago. if I remember correctly it is called the Nordkap No 584. The ship has no modifications to it just had to replace a lot of the kit ply as it was delaminating and use the ply as templates on plasticard. She went out on water yesterday and performed really well, just a bit of tinkering here and there. regards steve

whilst being off work with cancer have spent three months building my polar trawler which I had to remake a lot of superstructure with plasticard due to the old ply delaminated. it has twin screws powered by two 400 motors and 40 amp esc and 6v sla. I think she looks quite good

HI Dave, Sorry for delay in replying, taking boat out on water for trials today will let you know how got on. As to changing to brushless, good idea I use brushless in a lot of my models, but if you have MTroniks escs you can use a lipo upto 3series (11.1v), they say this on their own website, so you could still use same motors with 7.4v lipo but change the esc. the only downside to using lipos is having to add more ballast to get waterline which is what going to find out today. Regards Steve

How hard can it be to donate, everyone wants to show off their boats etc, this doesn't come free. I quite agree the amount of a packet of cigs, one less ciggy living longer and keeping this website alive.

๐ My Torpedo Boat

Here is my take on a torpedo boat, YES I know why has it got a rocket launcher on rear, well I wanted something that was different from the rest with my own signature on it. it is powered by a .60 size electric motor 120amp esc, two 5000 3 series lipos. Only allowed to have it going on 1/4 power cause of speeed limit on lake. The hull was originally a 48" deep vee hull but added perkasa superstructure to it.
