Hi Roland,
The pool is quite shallow with 18" at the deep end to 9" at the shallow end.
If any one would be interested we have open sailing mornings on the first Sunday of every month this year if you would like to join us you would be made most welcome.

๐ The best small racing yacht?

HI Robo177,
I have one of the new RTR Micro Magic's
I bought it from Howes models, the Hull comes already glued in one so you just fit the keel and rudder, the rigging was a little tricky but if you look at the photo on the box instead of the vage instructions it will be fine. I had never sailed a yacht before but after a little practice I have now got the bug
these yachts are just brilliant they will sail in hardly any wind and just a joy to
take out.

I went over to Rawdon for there open weekend on Sunday, I think I chose the best day because it was 34 deg on the Saturday.
I was greeted with a very friendly welcome and some of our members from Claro Marine Modelers where already there . I was just in time to grab one of the last Cheese Burgers and very nice it was too ๐
After lunch I powered up my Swordsman 26 for a quick squirt around the lake, it was very nice to open her up after sailing on the pond in Valley gardens. I had such a good day and they are very nice chaps to sail with.

Hi,
Thanks to everyone for your help it is much appreciated I have learnt quite a bit, I didn't realize the power these small motors have, I'm now going to go with a 3542/05 1250Kv on 8.4v NiMh a Mtronik G2 Hydra 50 amp ESC and a 35m 3 blade Brass Prop
Also I had a look at a very useful site explaining all about Kv =Turns of wire on these Brushless motors.

HI Alan,
My Kit shack 34" Crash tender Part Kit was Hand delivered today and I must say I am very Impressed with the Kit, I don't think I have ever seen so many Wooden parts in one box , All the parts are so cleanly cut that they will need hardley any prepping for assembly.
Robin at Kingston Mouldings had one of his Crash Tender Hulls in stock so that arrived the other day, The finish on the Hull is to Robins usual high standard, I have already offered up some of the Kit parts to the Hull and things are looking good.
I have bought two minI servos and some small plastic gears to make the Monitors swing around Question are we still allowed to squirt water at the Kids or is that not PC any more.
My thanks again to Darrell, Chris and Robin for getting this project started ๐

Hi, Im going to build my self a new Fire boat and Im thinking of useing a Kingston grp 34 1/2" raf Crash tender hull with one of the new Laser cut Plywood boat kits so I would have the best of both worlds, I know that I will have to re shape the Bulkheads to fit the cerves of the grp hull but I think It could work and make a very nice scale model . Please can any one tell me If they have tryed this build before and did It work out. Thanks Zippy.

HI Peter,
I like the twin drive belt system very much at 2 or 2.5 reduction it will save a lot on the batteries with a longer running time, Iv'e been looking at DC motors to go with this
Grupner have the low E motors 400 7.2v 3.3amp use
they run at 17000 on a 2.5 reduction would give 6800 at the props, I have given up on Brushless motors they are to tricky to reverse and I need one motor to run the other way, so I'm thinking of a Electronize controller,
with a subC 5000mAp nim cell pack. I think this mite work.
Regards Chris.

HI Peter,
Thanks for the photos of your new boat, I am very Impressed with your work and the very light design, I was thinking of belt drive with only one motor in the centre, with the pros shafts front bearings mounted in in a ally frame to take the strain, if I did go for two motors witch ones would you think could be best.
I was talking to one of the chaps in my club "Claro Marine modellers" in Harrogate North Yorks and he is building a twice full size of the 34" it's about 5 feet long monster Fire Boat ,
Thanks again, Chris.
