Beware shaft alignment, some adjustment is available via the 3 screws holding the aluminium block in position.

(note shortened shafts so I could fit flexi coupling)

Put inserts (2mm ply) it strengthens the intake area and will support the 0.7mm ply skin when applied.

Have brought two water cooling jackets but fitting will be very tight, I may have to put a flatten area on the jackets at the hull contact area.

    Notes on the jet drive.
This cheap copy of a drive is excellent value but only uses a dogged propeller not a Impeller, The prop shaft inside is 4mm but its tube takes up a lot of room inside the flow area of the intake, the tube is not full of grease and the grease nipple looks more like a water cooling outlet.

I have two of these units and the prop positions were not the same so made them match,(one was 2mm further forward).
The motor alignment is not great due to the plastic support for the metal motor mount by 3 screws which is too flexible. luckily I had some flexible couplings that may help?

    Regards
    Roy

Things were progressing OK, removed the blocks holding the frames in place, apart from Bow and Stern, cut off some excess stringers, started carving the keel, then notice the stern was not true, so had to deconstruct and also convert my clamp into a Spreader.

    Hi Roy,

Weโ€™ve all been there, one step forward, two steps back. Better to notice the problem now and fix it rather than finding it later when it would be far more difficult.

The old spring clamps are handy, the area forward of the solid frame, I will not tidy as will be filled with foam / polystyrene and will not be visible.

Run out of room in the shed so I am using the Utility room๐Ÿ˜†

    Frames and stringers.
I'm building on a lump of 3/4in - 1in ply, using the messy Gorilla glue, some parts of the board are covered with Sellotape to stop me gluing the boat to the board. the spine/Keel is laminations of various woods.

I not perfect but what is!

    Hi mturpin013,
There are various sellers on Amazon for these items but like every thing else they are going up in price as we speak,๐Ÿ‘Ž and I only ordered them a couple of weeks ago.

The Motors are no longer available from the seller I found who was very cheap a ยฃ10 each unfortunately they now seem to be around ยฃ30.

    Hi Shipmates,

Work on transom, recess the waterjets in 4mm transom then add a 2mm outer skin over the transom
with circular 32mm hole to fix the the unit in place.

    Hi there,
One of my sources of info, was the Model boats Magazine website which has a Watercat M12 build of a commercial kit by Nautical Marine Models (Now out of Business)

    https://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/article/watercat-m12--u619...

They quoted that 'a scale of 1:16 which gives a model hull length of 35 inches and 10 inches beam.

Unfortunately when I look at the specs of the real boat:
Beam 3.65m as per 'Model boats'
Length 13.10 excluding the waterjet guard
    length with Guard 14.25m.

If the model was 1/16 and the model ha a beam of 10in the real boats beam would be 160in =4.064m
    the scale is way off.
I think the hull they used may have been an old KMB (Germany) CB90 boat they used to sell.๐Ÿšค

So back to the Drawing Board๐Ÿ˜
So my boat after some re-calculations, is a 1:14 scale / semi scale craft with a beam of 10in (23cm) and a length ex, jet guard of 36.75in (93.37cm)
and with jet guard will extend it by another 3.23in (8.21cm)giving a LOA of 39.98in (1m).

    Regards
    Roy

New couplings and motors arrived today!
Took out prop shaft and put the PTFE washer on the prop end, for some reason it was between the housing and the coupling the prop is a standard dog type.

Unfortunately the coupling could not be used without modifying the length of the Motor shaft, about 5mm needs to be removed from it.

No real problem as motors were cheap 3650 1500kv 2-3cells 7.4-11.1v.
