Hello, here are the first pictures from my construction report of the Rau IX by Graupner on a scale of 1:45. I will post the first pictures in a relaxed manner, since I have already started and I am a little further along, more on that later. The hull was almost done so far. The engine was already installed, as was the rudder. The deck was already built up so far and only needs to be glued in place.
I hope that my English can be understood, I mainly work with a translator.

Hello, a small upgrade. After the sand dried in the paint, I sanded the surface again with fine sandpaper and vacuumed the surface. Then I applied another coat of paint. Now the paint is still a bit shiny but when the paint is dry the surface will be matt. So I like it.

The first test is over and I'm satisfied so far.....I vacuumed off the loose sand and discovered that the sand wasn't stuck everywhere, ok I'll do better.
Then I'll finish the surface a bit and paint it and then we'll see.

Hello, I finished the test with the grit today and I'm very satisfied, pictures will come when the deck is finished.
In the meantime I continued with the winch and deburred the parts and painted the first parts

Hello, I will modify the deck or the deck surface a bit by spreading fine bird sand on the still wet paint and then painting it again. That gives it a rough metal look.

Since I want to operate my Rau partly with light, I looked for lights like the one in the first picture and didn't find anything. Only in our basement. So I'm going to build my own lights. In the second picture you can see a valve cap from a bicycle, light in, works. However, the lights should not be round, but oval. Picture 5 2 Valve caps. Picture 6 The valve caps shortened. Picture 7 The shortened valve caps glued together. Picture 8 Sawn through lengthwise. For the first time....fits. Picture 9 👍

Reinforced with wooden strips from below and the side walls milled from the ABS part. There will be 2 side panels.

Hello I replaced the old red plastic screw with a brass screw, I just like it better. I also installed brass screws on my OCEANIC and the Zwarte Zee, they are not exactly cheap but they have something. The Rau also passed the first water test with a load of 3 kg of lead.

Next up is the superstructure. Gluing the side walls. This had to be fitted appropriately on the deck. So that it doesn't stick to the deck, I put cling film between the deck and the superstructure.
The gaps between the walls will no longer be visible afterwards.
