RobBob, I posted on this site asking for a copy of the drawing, it is really a construction guide, but with it I could build one. Someone sent me a link to one on EBay and I bought it. I was in luck it was complete and untouched.

They are upgrading our local substation to accommodate the new houses been built near us. They did the prep work on Monday and will possibly be finished with the clean up by Friday. The workforce looked like they were in South Africa, one guy working and seven supervising.

EdW, same here. Usually one guy digging in a hole and a bunch of others "supervising" with ther hands on their hips.

That is a long power outage for an area in "Middle England" , I hope it is a "one-off" outage that will give you a more secure supply in the future.

    Hi Ed.
How did you come to have the Veron kit? was it a 'barn find' so to speak or did you have it on the shelf for a long time?

    Hi Fogwall.
Yours is a great looking example of the Titan tug ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘.
It looks really well built and finished too.
I love the name 'Temps Perdu' clearly it wasn't a waste of time building it !
    Robbob.

Iโ€™ve just spotted your post about the Veron Titan Tug and couldnโ€™t resist commenting. My late dad and I also built one in the early 70s to which I rather crudely fitted radio in โ€™79. Foolishly thinking Iโ€™d done with model boats (one never is ๐Ÿ˜Š) I sold it some years later.

A couple of years ago I decided to see if I could re-visit my misspent youth. This is the result together with a 'split screen' of the original 70s and current models.

Radio and motor are 70s period correct: MacGregor III still on 27MHz and Monoperm Pile (3:1) but with modern ESC (the original had a Pompey RCM&E design) and NiMh batteries.

It could be I'm just hamfisted but I think this isnโ€™t an easy kit to build despite Veronโ€™s claims at the time. There are a number of significant challenges. Apart from the one my dad and I built, Iโ€™ve only ever seen one other working example.

The main issue for R/C is connecting the tiller to the rudder servo as the stern is solid balsa. I adapted the Dacron fishing line method as detailed on the EzeeBilt website.

    Good luck ๐Ÿ‘.

This kit dates back to the 1950s to 1960. I am building this because my late father built one in the 1960s
