ATSF Railroad tug and barge.
Santa Fe Railroad Tug
AT&SF - Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway
I have now built a railroad barge to push around with a few "G" scale rail cars on deck. Hull is solid Styrofoam 4" thick about 18" wide and nearly 6' long. Hull was painted with a rubberized coating called FlexSeal. Deck is plywood.

๐ Brushless setup

Some brushless controllers I have had require some setup. Try turning on the transmitter with throttle stick in neutral.
Plug in the battery on the boat. Turn the on/off switch to on if it has one.
When you hear the first beep put the throttle stick up to full, then full down to what would be reverse. Then back to neutral.
If it makes a series of beeps following this procedure you may be in luck. Try easing up on the throttle again and hopefully it will work. If the motor turns the wrong way just reverse any two of the three wires and that should fix it. Good Luck!

Also be aware some brushless speed controllers have a low voltage cutoff threshold. Could potentially leave you "adrift" should your brushless motor pull your NiMH down too quickly.
Some programmable controllers also have battery "type" selectability.

That older tug looks much like a plastic Lindberg 1/72 scale model I had built once. Beautiful classic US tug lines.

Yea really sorry i missed this one. I have a Midwest fantail launch that I lengthened by 8 inches amidships and this would have been perfect for it. This body of this one was 3" diameter and 7" tall.
Hoping someone here has an idea who made this one or possibly has one or one similar they might be interested in selling.

Could be used as a fantail launch hull as well. Sorry I don't have an idea on who manufactured it. Very nice lines for sure.

Well could you use a "y" splitter between the receiver and rudder servo? Signal to the rudder servo is then mimicked through the other leg of the splitter to your linear actuator moving your helm wheel?

No reverse? From what I have seen most brushed ESC's can be programmed with a "card" to cancel out the braking effect but there will still be a neutral or dead position and the opposite direction (stick back) will be reverse.

The train scale is 1/24th. I used an inexpensive battery operated New Bright train set. The barge is a large block of Styrofoam with a rubberized coating of Flexseal. Deck is plywood. Length is around 67 inches (170cm)
The railroad tug I built up as you see it now from a model I picked up thru a classified ad but it's origins are unknown.(see pic) Hull is a plastic coated expanded foam material

There is also this which uses your android phone or tablet as the viewing screen. I think it is designed to be used with a goggle headset so there is a split screen. Not sure if you can select single screen.

Might be best to find a small "used" drone and part out the RX/TX video equipment. You could also try Hobbyking or Banggood websites.
