QUICKWATER another small tug

Some photos of another tug I’m working on. The inspiration is BEAUPRE, but not to be a duplication. Next couple of photos are the massing study I always perform to get a sense of size & location.
F/G hull of the Brooklyn tug is the start point. The rest from scratch. This one is designed for actual towing; a first build type for me. As such it won’t be too detailed with components easily knocked off.

    Hi Chum444,

No, I just downloaded the background from the webpage, via Waterfox browser, then made a negative picture of the negative background to get the positive version.

QUICKWATER

Maiden splash 🤞.
- No leaks.
- Motor runs cool.
- Rock to adjust ballast. Weigh & replace with lead.
- Expo adjust required to eliminate twitchy rudder response.

QUICKWATER

A few more Maine photos for this one also. Photo credits to P. Schapiro.
Prior to this event I increased the size of the rudder because of poor backing down response. Even now with the “barn door” rudder backing response remains poor. 😠

Tug rides nice. Ballast looks good but watching a video will tell more.

When we were aboard the Beamsville, Marcel said the aft deck would usually have 4” of water over the deck when towing which is one reason for scuppers that were 4’ + long. They had safety bars across them so a person would not be swept away.

QUICKWATER completion

Only been tinkering with QUICKWATER while beginning two other builds. Finally can call it complete. Haven’t splashed since I installed a servo extender on the rudder to improve response when backing. 🤞🤞Probably will change to a four-bladed prop I have.
Not a lot of detail on this one since I hope to use it in towing events. Nothing tender added that might get torn off.
