Hello, At the time of this construction was looking for a model Of a Dunkirk Little Ship, this plan came to light. At 40" was just the job for one of our bigger pools. Choice of build was a Muddy standard, with 6 mm Ply Keel and Bulkheads, and Obeche planks, 6 x 3 mm.
As a change in construction decided to make patterns or templates of the bulkheads, allowing for the thickness of the planks some cardboard was found and they were cut-out, then all i had to do was draw around them onto the ply, very good very easy. Soon apparent that the construction would be heavy, so undertook a lightening procedure by removing some of the bulkhead material.
Once all was cut out a dry fit or pre assembly took place, and some guesstimating of fitting the propulsion units, in this case a pair of Decaperms.

Hello, Had the dry fit and tried out an eggbox construction , fashion for the bow, then started on lightening the bulkheads by removing part of the bulkhead inners. ATB Muddy.

Looks like I had Finger Blight with the last load of pic's.. Will Try again, so apologies before we start, being a new bee to all this software driving.
Looking at the eggbox in the bow section, accessing the motor install, Planking the transom after a mistake when i lightened the Transom, bad move, it was not required to be lightened. Started laying on the Obeche 6mm x 3 mm hull planks. ATB Muddy

Hello, I am sorry but all the pics are mixed up. But somewhere near if you close your eyes turn around 4 times and shout Hocus Pocus, then I,m afraid its welcome to the club. We digress, continuing on with the hull planking and motor fixing/mounting and the prop shafts/tubes. Deck combing was next. Regards Muddy.

Part 5 Hello, continuing on with deck combing and fitting the deck, which was 6 x 3mm Walnut. Hull was then painted in Cellulose dope about 3 coats mixed with thinners 25% thinners to dope. Rubbing down between coats just to give the next coat a key, Medium grade tissue then applied again about 3 coats rubbing down between each coat. Fitting rudders and make a start on the cabin/upperworks.

Hello, Fitting of shafts and motors then a modification to the rudders, these were standard rudders but wanted to give a little personality to the boat, but not standard model rudders, The rudders were cut down, drilled, this is to give the glue or in my case Car body filler a "Key" not forgetting the main added item Lolly pop sticks. The sticks were there to give a bit more shape and then infilled with the car body filler, once dried off and shaped, just dropped into a can of dope and left to dry, i did this about 3 times, or in other words 3 coats of dope. Wanted the drive motors to be removed quickly and easily without having to fumble with screwdrivers etc: , so attempted to make up a quick detachable type motor mount, where the Decaperms could slide in an assembly and using spline drive couplings would line up easily, this proved to be very effective although i say it myself.

On to the upperworks. Ply main frames and spruce frames, Roofs were planked in Mahogony and obeche , and the cabin sides were veneered in Mahogony.
Bendy beach was also used on upperworks of the cabin.
The rear well deck floor was just pencil drawn planks and a compass point for the nails /fixings.

I didnt like the way she looked on the water and was convinced that the Bow/prow was far to high, this was looked into later on.

Hello.... Bow/Prow was too high. so grab the nettle and try to remove the unwanted height.. As I started this became a nightmare, the walnut planks would not move, tried all sorts of levers deck pin removers, it was stuck solid,, Full size carpentry chisels and big hammer, still not moving, decided to try it with a jig saw, ho ho ho, not enough hands and not enough space or time in the workshop, final attempt, a ring saw, big enough hole to get some pry-bars in, but no so out came the jigsaw again, and some success, nearly ruined the boat, but we arrived at a lower bow, made good all the damage i had created, and thought the deck could be weak now, applied some .8mm ply as a deck, and then planked it in Mahogony, i had run out of walnut. Not such a nice looking finish but after some varnish, perhaps not so bad.
