Hi all, I've always envied you steamers, but just found these on our local Freecycle Network.
A little Mamod static, which I will give to my grandson.
But to me the real star was a Stuart Sun twin cylinder steam engine built in 1945, which needs minor repairs to the slide valve, along with a Stuart Babcock 500 boiler, which needs a good clean, also from 1945.
So now wondering what boat to build round them, supposed to be suitable for 4 to 5 foot speed boats.
But I would like to use in something more sedate such as a tug.
So looking for suggestions, and what sort of gearbox to look for, preferably with a reverse gear facility .
