I have been reading the comments on here regarding the missing Swastika's on the flags. In the past I had researched about the Swastika's and they date back to over a thousand years ago. They were originaly a good sign. Even the sign on the Isle of Man flag is in a Swastika style. If I had built a German Model Boat then I probably would display the correct flag on board it. http://www.becc.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d25.html
This company sell the flags and stickers. I have seen many R/C model planes with the Swatika's displayed on them. As a kid when I made Airfix model planes the Stuka's and ME109's I added the correct transfers on to them, with NO comments or actions from my father. But when I was 17 I was out buying myself some clothes. I saw a shirt and tie that were boxed together. I liked the look of it so I bought it. I got home and before I had the chance to take it out of the box and bag it was sealed in my dad went mad. He told me to get it out of this house and take it back. I asked what is wrong with it? I thought it just looked smart. It was a black shirt and a white tie. He said it reprisented Natsizam. I never knew anything about all of this dress code. We wasn't brought up with any type of racism. We were tought that we were all equal in colour and race. I even married a mixed race girl, her father was Jamacian and I have a dark skined daughter. I wouldn't display a Swastika in any other way than on a correctly displayed model. I cannot see any problem with that. That to me would also be the same with the Japanese flag. I just hope I haven't offended anyone with my posted comments. If so then if Admin inform me then I will remove it, as I reiterate I am NOT racist in any way.

Hi Rowen, Thanks for your reply & advice. I will have a good search on both sites. I have purchased a great Turnigy ESC from Hobbyking but for the last 2+ years the programer for it is still unavailable, cannot even find one on Amazon and not even a used one anywhere. I have been on thier mailing list for when they get a delivery in so that I can order one. Just have to wait. But I will check out the other 2 sites and see what thier 180amp ESC's are priced at. Thanks again.

Hi Boatshed, yes live in Canada but Yorkshire born and cheap!
Have used both of them.
My experience is that AliExpress seems to have a larger assortment of fasteners etc. although they do offer a wide range of products.
Banggood seems more focused on specialist equipment for our hobby.
Aliexpress is cheaper. Think as many of the products are similar, it is due to their shipping methods. Cainao, which does most of their shipping is poor. Cheap with poor tracking, they have no idea where anything is. Eventually it will turn up unexpected and unannounced.
Bangood shipping can be tracked and is usually quicker.
In fairness to both, have received all my orders eventually.
Am very happy with Bangood brushless ESCs. Much better modulation than Turnigy, with no programming (suites me as am not seeking pure performance, just reliability) and less expensive.
If you can plan ahead and place orders before you need an item, either works. There are significant cost savings when compared to the more traditional suppliers.

Hi Rowen, I have been on here again, I see you are situated in Canada. You have written that you have purchasd from both AliExpress and Banggood. I had heard bad comments in the past from others saying they have had bad dealings with these companies. How have your dealings and deliveries been from them, Please? 🤞 I am considering trying using them. I have used Wish in the past and have had good results with purchases from them and I also use HobbyKing. They have been great but sadly they seem to have now losed thier UK depot and things from them have to come from Europe or China.

You will find that both AliExpress and Banggood offer more economical ESCs than Hobbyking.
I have used several of the Banggood “double sided” servos with good success. Not only do they work well there is no programming!
Available in a range of current ratings,
Suggest give them a shufti

I went on Hoobyking last night and purchased another
Turnigy AquaStar 4084-1050KV Water Cooled Brushless Motor. They no longer seem to have thier UK warehouse running. So it now come from thier GLOBAL one. The motor has gone up about 30% since I last bought one and the postage has doubled. I can't afford the ESC for it so I will be swapping from boat to boat. That will be easy. I am going to run it on one boat with an out drive. The outdrive is already fitted to a 50" hull called a Hydrofibre Pipedream. I bought that back in the late 70's. I was going to fit a 26cc Zenoah motor in it. I fitted it with an electric starter and on it and a clutch. It is all blinged up with Purple parts. But now it is becoming hard to find somewhere to run it. As from the 25th October wouldn't even be able to go to the Clapham Common Long Pond as my Mitsubishi Shogun will be under the ULEZ charge. I live in Darenth just outside of Dartford so I think running something like that would be Maidstone. I am thinking of putting the Zenoah on Ebay. By the end of fitting the parts it cost me £350.00. I run it in mounted on a plywood base. it starts easily on a 7.2v battery. I am not happy with the way they are banning the use of IC engines. The last time I run my PT109 I just accidently run it out of the pond and bent the shaft. Then 5 minutes later the Blackheath Ranger turned up as someone had reported me. I would have got an £80 fine. He said they had been banned on there. I said there was no sign up to say that, he said that someone had removed it. If it had still been on the pond when he arrived he would still have given the fine. Some of these brushless scream louder than an IC. I suppose 🤔 that these will be the next to be banned.☹️☹️

Well Bill, I have a kit queuing situation, and the S100 is way down the line, currently trying to finish the USS KIDD from Deans marine, was missing the port prop guard, but Ron brought one for me to the Blackpool show, and bought a few other bits🙄

Yes Bill, same as in my kit, flags minus the swastika, can't quite understand why? when they include the rising sun on Japanese aircraft, it's all part of history, you can't wipe out the bits you don't like!

Morning Peter.
Thank you.
She was a really fun build and a worthwhile project.
I managed to get both front and rear guns to rotate which was fun and delicate to say the least.
There is an engine sound generator fitted as well liked to the throttle.Working Navigation and running lights.
Even using the kit provided rudders which I linked all together the turning circle is very good.
Re the Swastika. The flag is the one provided with the kit and it wasn’t on the flag as you correctly point out.
I had the same on some flags I bought for my UBoat…no Swastika.
Political correctness I guess, sign of the times.

I don't think it matters where you buy things from just at this present time. Since the Pandemic everything across the world has rocketed up in price. Timber in shops here in the UK have vitually boubled as most things have. Even food prices are rising every few weeks. I bought a Brushless motor and ESC from Hobby King back before the Pandemic and the same parts they have gone up by about 75%. I wanted to buy a second set the same, but I am now I think just going to but the Brushless motor and when I want to use the other boat I will transfer the ESC over. I will fit that on Velcro pads and easy swap cables. I wiil find that the cheapest option at the moment. I might purchase another ESC in the future or try to find a cheaper compatable one on Ebay down the line sometime. My wife sends knitted hats all over the world and the postage has also rocketed. The cost to post to the States is twice the cost of the bobble hats she sells.

Problem is all the larger versions are a hefty price - and its much more of a challenge with a smaller hull. The Merit version must be discontinued - cant understand such a large price tag in the US - pity as its big enough to make a success of with a waterjet.

The Italeri is a great looking boat. I have seen one converyed to R/C. When I first saw it it was about £75.00. The cheapest I can find now is £124.00 plus P&P on top of that. Too much for me now. My wife tells me tht |I have too many now as it is. I still have a 34" RAF Crash Tender that I bought back in 1994.It was advertised in Model Boats Mag as the 50th anniversary of the model and they were only selling 50 of them so I got one. Still in box unmade as well as a 48" kit that the Vintage Model Boat Co made when they started to produce them. Still in box unmade. Amoungst others still awaiting build and several others started.

This is my PT 109. she is aprox 4' long and has a 26cc 2stroke petrol engine. I plan to convert to a brushless motor. This picture was taken about 11 years ago I think. There a few more pictures on my harbour listing.

Italeri makes 1/35th scale PT's, Higgins, ELCO, Scnellboats and Italian models. Probably the best kits on the market and the largest as well. Unless you are looking to go with a f/g hull. Dumas made 1/2oth scale in f/g, but now they may be plastic. Dean's Marine is another source and there are several sources on this side of the pond for f/g hulls as well.

The video is of the larger Lindberg 1/32nd model on my original posting - its more than twice the size of the one you purchased on Ebay - and at least more than four times the displacement - even the 1/64th version would be difficult to convert - and that's 1 1/2in longer than the 1/72nd version. I have two of the Revell 1/72nds - PT117 & PT579/PT588 - it will be difficult to RC them with any success - any waterjet would have to be extremely light & small.
One of our online shops has a Merit 1/48th PT109 which is just over 500mm long (+- 20in) - that would be a much more suitable model - price here is the equivalent of $99us - checked and there is one on EBayUS now for the same price. Sure you could find one cheaper if you really searched.

The 1/64th that you are going to use, isn't that only about 15 inches in length. Are you putting a jet drive in that and fitting radio control in it. Which jet drive are you using, is it the Tilkiea one. How long is that one ? wont it fill up half of th boat ?

Hi Staffross.
Welcome to the world of boats.
I see the boat that you have posted is available from Amazon should you be interested at a slightly cheaper price, but not sure how Amazon works in your part of the world.
Do you propose to fit RC etc to your build.
Plenty of people on our site who will assist you in many ways.

Try finding the Lindberg version of the PT boat - also PT109 - looked it up - 1/32nd scale - the Revell 1/72 might be a little small for a decent jet drive .

Hello,

I am into rc, cars, boats, quads, planes, etc.

Been wanting to build a boat jet powered for a while now, but could no find the right type, especially not a flater bottom type. So though was to go back to what jet boats excisted, and settled on a PT boat. I have found some links to several kits, but I do not know which kit has a good reputation.

Anyone able to give me good model brands, or if your bored lol, google a bit and link me one youd think is best.

Thanks everyone.
