Thanks I will check that out, it is a shame but for a variety of reasons lots of these guys who were hand making quality fittings have ceased. Years ago I got a lot of stuff from Keith of Modelling Timbers on the I.O.M. who used to make fabulous fishing bits and pieces and lobster and crab pots which were absolutely magnificent. The lacking of model makers shows has not helped either.
I will check out Kevin Tinklin and thanks for sending his details.

Mastman did an excellent range of bits and would also make to order but he unfortunately has had to give up for health reasons. The business was taken over by Kevin Tinklin who does much the same range. His email is ktinklin1592@yahoo.com.
Hope that is of help.

Cheers, Nerys

Thanks for the idea and yes I have checked their website and they have some interesting bits. I also checked out Cornwall Model Boats last night and have ordered several fittings for a Riva which at 1/10 are about right. They were not cheap but if they are as good as they look on the website then I will be happy with them.
I would like to thank those who helped with recommendations.

Thanks Bill, I am aware of Cornwall Model Boats and have bought loads of stuff from them in the past. Most of their stock is like everybody else and mostly made of plastic which I wanted to avoid. I will keep looking, what on earth did we do before Google, visit model shops I hear answered by most of us.
Thanks Bill best regards ChrisG

Thanks Dave
I think it is down to slogging through various websites until something comes to light. I was hoping that one of this sites members had bought something similar recently, I might have been lucky.
Anyway thanks for your help, best regards ChrisG

Hi Chris
I believe you may have difficulty in sourcing metal components for your model. Most suppliers now use plastics and I suspect you would need a bespoke item from a skilled machinist.
The lack of shows has not helped as they are a great source of suppliers selling all types of fittings.
Mastman did an extensive range and is a member on this site so you could try sending him a PM to see if he might be able to assist.
There are still many UK suppliers who sell all kinds of fittings and will certainly prove cheaper than suppliers overseas.

Yes Chris,
Shipping is always a problem.
I think that having your wife do some shopping for you while in the US is a great idea👍👍

I would never live long enough to use all of the bits if she did that and she would almost certainly have to pay excess baggage. The things we do for a quiet life.😋

That's a great site, the stock on that shop is far better then here in the UK. Our only problem buying from the USA is the cost of the shipping. SADLY.☹️ I forgot to say, the word frocks, I just hate, it is alomost as hard to type it as to say or hear it. I spent 25 years working in Dry Cleaning as a Shop manager and a Hoffman Presser and just banned that word as I hated it. Dress I feel is a nicer word. Even most of the female's I worked with didnt like it.

Hello Trev
I will certainly bear this company in mind but I was hoping to buy from the U.K. for ease of shipment etc.
My good lady is off to New York on Monday for a short break perhaps I should ask her to do some model boat shopping instead of the expensive frock shops🤣🤣
Thanks for your help regards ChrisG

I am looking for help, I am building a Thames Launch scale around 1/10 th and am having difficulty obtaining bits like cleats, fairleads, flag pole, steering wheel, gearstick etc.
I wish them to be made either of chromed steel or brass or other shiny metal. Shiny, quality plastic parts would be considered.
I have little skill in metalworking hence my need for off the shelf bits.
I would be grateful for any help, regards ChrisG
