Saw this when stopping for gas

Perhaps his name was Chris, Ron 😉 (ie Chris's craft)😁 Rare sighting, usually those boats are only seen at shows these days, ( from what I've seen.) I was looking at a boat show on YT (might have been your neck of the woods) where there were all sorts of amazing restored boats like that one, - fins galore, as well as wooden boats.

We had a lot of interesting glass boats here years ago, but most have ended up in the tip. The odd one pops up now and again from a 'barn find'. There is a 70s glass 18 footer I saw for sale for $1100 on a trailer, on my way to the pond the other day, (a lot later style, which would make a nice restoration project (if only I had room for one more LOL.) 10 yrs ago,- maybe. Even these are getting rare now, and very few people building their own any more from plans like they used to.

You are right, in my haste to do the post, I just saw Chris “….” and filled in the blank. Good research 🧐 still an interesting find. When he drove away, I was still pumping gas, it was then that I got a good view of the transom. Wished I had taken a photo of it as it would have been key to building it up.

Very nice looking boat Ron👍
In 60's style paint job too.
Would make a great and unusual model, with Ken at the wheel and Barbie draped over the bench seat (reminds me of my old souped up Hillman Minx😉 NOT Barbie - the front bench seat😁).

But Chris Craft? I don't think so. Christopher Columbus Smith would be revolving in his grave!
First FG instead of wood for an oldie Chris Craft and then of course the maker's plate on the stbd quarter really made me wonder! So I trawled around a bit 😁

This boat looks like an early (?) Custom Craft Manta Ray, they were built from early sixties (?) in CC's Buffalo plant, there were several others. See attached pic of a 1960 Manta. Any aficionados on the site?
If anyone can find one here's a DIY guide to the restoration of '64 Sunray. Could be a guide for building a model??

Watch the follow up vid as well, Part 2 comes right after Part 1. (Quelle surprise!😉)
Happy boating folks👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug
