Hi Roy, found a good pic a while back from one of our museums,- also have pics I took as a kid when she visited NZ in 1963. Always admired the paint job.

    Hi Gary,
Tony Blair has a lot to answer for, like selling of a large number of inner city Hospitals, and getting private companies to build Hospitals on the outskirts of the Cities and charge the NHS Millions of pound every year to rent them back. (instead of NHS building them and owning them, so what happen to the money from the prime inner city sites, when the old hospitals were sold?)

'HMY Britannia was first used by The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh on their return to England after a six-month Commonwealth tour in 1953–4. It soon became one of The Queen's most beloved retreats – a place where she might 'truly relax' – as well as the perfect location to host glittering receptions and state dinners. By the time of Britannia's decommissioning in 1997, the yacht had conveyed members of the Royal Family and other dignitaries on 696 foreign visits and 272 visits in British waters.'

A few more facts and photos of The Royal Yacht Britannia, built in the John Brown Shipyard and launched in 1953, and was commissioned in 1954. She was decommissioned in 1997 on orders from Tony Blair as being too expensive, and I think there's a joke there somewhere. Regards, Gary.
