My only use for canopy glue (Deluxe Materials) so far was to stick styrene strakes to Eze-Kote resin on a number of ply hulls which are being painted over.
Holding well and I will be using it to fix styrene window frames to painted ply.

Thanks for all the suggestions, Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel becomes clearer, I now have some alternatives to play around with!
Thanks all

I am glad "Stotty" asked about this. Testors widow cement does not hold well. We all know what super glue (cyanoacrylate) does to clear plastic window materials. So, I did some searching on this Canopy Glue and got mixed opinions.
The Canopy Glue is water clean-up but there is nothing about it being water proof after setting.
However, on several sites there is: "The Pacer Canopy 560 glue is NOT waterproof!!! White woodworking PVA glue, which is basically Pacer canopy glue, is available!"
Here is one opinion on Amazon: "I tried this to stick acrylic painted wood frames to the thin transparent acetate window material. It did not stick to the plastic any better than anything else I tried like PVA. Only CA glue worked and it tended to frost the plastic."
So if it is not waterproof at what point will it dissolve?
Some water splashes on the "window" which might dry before it affects the glue?
Rain (a good soaking)?
Probably not hold if the boat sinks, but that would be the least of my concerns.
I guess this requires some testing!

Duncan - white and green appear to be different manufacturers. The green one has the ZAP logo on it and if you look at the details it lists metal so that is the one I'd go for. Prices are very similar.

Hiya. I'm a bit confused as there are some in green bottles and some in white bottles. Some also have Pt56 as well as Formula 560 on the bottles. Different suppliers seem to be showing different properties of the two bottles. Confused.Com!! 😀😀Any ideas please? Is it because one is newer than the other? Thanks D

Thank you Chris for that info. It is to stick the metal surround onto the window covering the headlights which are mounted in the bow. So potentially it will also get wet. I'll definitely check it out. Cheers D

Given that it shouldn't be under any stress I would guess it would be Ok. You could always do a test.
I see that ZAP 560 Canopy Glue sticks to metal and lots of other materials. Will have to get some as I need to glue some brass to timber.

On this subject, any suggestions please of whether Deluxe canopy glue will work with plastic windows onto metal frames? I know on my tube it doesn't mention it being suitable on metal but I was wondering if that was just an omission.

It depends how big is the window and what are you gluing it to. Any acrilic glue, sealer, PV glue, liquid nails even white exterior construction glue will do the job. Don't use any cyans.
