That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

Hi Cdnfurball

I think its time you got your self a real drink, have you tried ?
OBAN 18 Years Old
An elegantly matured single malt that balances opulent fruit flavours with rich peat smoke and spicy wood, culminating in a long, smooth, finish.
Some time back our late cousin had his 90th Birthday, and the only way we could get a bottle to him was for us to fly out to canada with it, it was not long after that his family and friends toasted him with it at his wake.

Hermark,
You’ve probably heard of my mentor…. Non other that Jack Daniels himself.😎
We’ve spent countless hours fixing world problems🤓, just didn’t write them down at the time and couldn’t remember the fixes the next day.
There’s no answers at the bottom of a whiskey bottle, just a couple of cures along the way.

Joint pain, sedation, cure for insomnia etc…

Thank you for all your comments,👍
Hermank I am not sure who you are talking about when it come to wisdom, it can not be me.
I could just get away with my tugs as Newhaven is still a port, (part of it may be owned by the French) any way it looks as if I could be getting myself a Lifeboat at the end of the month.
If the wife finds out I can always say it was the voices from this forum that made me do it.😁

" its just that as its a RNLI Open Day that I got the club an invite to, I feel that I should at least have a lifeboat,"
Well Fred, you backed yourself into this corner so there's only one way out ain't there!
I suggest that in the meantime you develop a 'Model Kit Detector defeater'😉

Hi Cdnfurball

Its not that I need to get another model boat, I have four still to build, its just that as its a RNLI Open Day that I got the club an invite too, I feel that I should at least have a lifeboat, I am not into the run of the mill Lifeboats and this one looks the right one to build, also no one in the club has one.

Hello cdnfurball,

Oh, I completely agree. Just hours and hours of fun and sometimes a lot of frustration. Just stopping yourself from giving the uncompleted kit to the dog as a new toy! 😁

Just for a change, today I have started to build something different. A balsa aircraft kit. The kit is the KeilKraft Ajax high wing rubber powered free flight aircraft that I might convert to RC. To say frustrated is a slight understatement. I'm ready to give it to the dog and I'm only on the first part of the wing!😐

Now Fred….. this is something I have learned over the the years when it comes to buying a model. Cursing yourself, the should have, why didn’t you and the hole in my itty bitty heart for not doing it…. Far out weighs the POSSIBILITY of any kind of guilt regarding a purchase of a kit.

Price divided by hours of build = low cost entertainment and frustration. Probably about the same as 2 beers per hour. And what will last longer ?

GO GET IT

Hello Fred,

Go on you know you want it! 😁

Let me know if you purchase the kit.

Worthing. I know it well. When I was in the fire service I did some of my training there as they have, or did have, a training school attached to Worthing's fire station. Happy Days! 😊

Hello Fred,

Thank you for your reply.

I do like these small boats. I am thinking of purchasing others from the range. The one I am looking at the moment is the patrol boat PT-109 John F Kennedy's boat from World War II. But the lifeboat also looks interesting. 😁

Thank you for your input Firefighter, I must have a look at your build on the Police launch.

I have four months before the first open day so I will think it over and if is a go then I will order one at the end of the month.

Hello Fred,

I am in the process of building the Wooden Model Boat Company's MOD Police Launch. Apart from making an error when I started to assemble the hull frames I found the kit was not difficult to build. Having said that, I did have to make some minor adjustments to some parts to enable them to fit together neatly.

The 3D printed parts are not the best I have seen and some needed cleaning up and a little filler to improve their appearance. In addition to the 3D parts I am going to add some additional deck fittings to improve the overall look of the launch.

Some of the instruction in the booklet I needed to be read a couple of times to get it clear in my head, but that may be just me 😁.

Apart from the above I found the kit to be of good value with the potential to easily be improved.

So, if the lifeboat, which is from the same range, is of a similar construction as the police launch I would say that it would be a nice boat to build.

Greg 👍

Hi Fred,
Re "For some reason I am having trouble to post the full story,"

A little while ago I had the same problem and discovered that if you put the Link within the text anything you type after it gets chopped off when you post.😭
Solution is, always put Links after the text.
This is a new phenomenon. Been meaning to mention it to Stephen🙄
Cheers, Doug😎

I am asking if any one has used this company or have you made a model and did you have any problems.

Hi One & All
Back in the dark days I had a model of the RNLI Atlantic 21 (wish I still had it), the thing is I have now got my club invites to take part in the Newhaven and Brighton RNLI open days, I now need a Lifeboat.

I came across this on Sussex Model Center website, The Wooden Model Boat Company Thames Lifeboat Kit( https://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/products/thames-lifeboat-kit-400mm-laser-cut-parts?_pos=3&_sid=f305f8a31&_ss=r), and as I don't have long before the first open day, I thought that it would fit the bill.

Has any one made a model from the company what was the outcome?
