Flaxbybuck
Don’t pay attention. Our brains(whatever the age) has also a checker and we read and understand what you want to tell even with a damaged spellchecker whatever the make

Spellchecker has a lot to answer for. I've got into trouble more than once for not checking my script before sending a message.
The whole ageing process doesn't help ! 😉

flaxbybuck !

OMG! I blame the spell checker for my Tryping Error!

Sorry Sir... I will pay more attention in future.

Pop over to Rawdon on Wednesday morning and I'll buy you a cuppa.

Thanks Flashybuck. I appreciate your kind words.
You and your fellows from L&BMBC are welcome to come and join RMBC.
Yes, the fee is off putting, but it's well worth the expense.
See you again soon.

Thanks for a super day Mike.
Better than a day at the seaside. No traffic queues, no kids kicking sand in your face, no sand sticking to everything in sight (as well as things not in sight !).
Whilst at LBMBC we enjoy the vastness of Yeadon Tarn to sail on, we are truly envious of your clubhouse, waterside and facilities.
Many thanks
Buck😉

I consulted Wikipedia. The ⛵clubhouse is not on the National Heritage List 😭

RMBC has a lovely situation here.

Thanks RodC. Your explanation of the term "Tarn" makes sense as the lake/pond is located on the side of a hill. I believe it is approx. 5 acres in area. I have attached a photo that hopefully gives you some idea of the lay of the land. It's not my photo but it shows the Tarn with the RMBC clubhouse on the right.

I had to look that one up:

"What's the difference between a lake and a tarn?
The words 'mere' and 'tarn' come from old Norse words. A mere refers to a lake that is shallow in relation to its size, and can be linked the the Saxon 'mere' that refers to a sea. A tarn is a small mountain lake, and its name is linked to the old Norse word tjörn meaning pond."

Thank Heaven for Google !!

Rawdon Model Boat Club Open Day 10/06/2023

Attention on deck! All wannabe ships Captains and Crews muster on the Observation Deck at Rawdon Model Boat Club (RMBC)

Rawdon MBC is hosting their first Open Day of 2023 on Saturday 10th of June.

Club members will be displaying and operating their model ships and sailing vessels all day from 10AM until 4PM, no matter what the weather!

They sail every class of boat you can think of, including, Trawlers, Tugs, Warships, Cargo ships, Fast Electric Racing boats (note; Internal Combustion Engines not allowed), and Racing Yachts.

You will be sure of a warm welcome at our friendly clubhouse where we have a kitchen, WC’s,  lots of boat storage berths and a comfortable social room. But the best view of the lake and the action is from our plentiful outdoor seating. Tea and coffee will be available!

There will be boats available for all interested parties to “have a go”, under the guidance and instruction of the members who own the boats.

There will be boats for sale too!

There has been a model boat club on Larkfield Tarn since 1937.  The tarn was built in the 1820’s to provide water for a nearby textile mill but the lake is now owned by Rawdon MBC.

Rawdon MBC is located off Larkfield Road, Rawdon. LS19 6EQ.

Entry is free and there is limited parking on site. See you there!
