RodC. The boom fitting is called a gooseneck. My example has a ring that slides over the mast and a banded pivot that slides over the spar. I got mine from Cornwall Model Boats, a selection shown here. Will post a pic later.

Good morning Rockbag, I hav two CLYDE PUFFERS both 3D printed by a clubmate. I was given a small print drawing which reads in part "some of these vessels had black/red hulls but most later ones were mid-grey overall". Title on the drawing is LOCHINVAR-CLYDE PUFFER. Mine are 16" & 24" l.o.a. The smaller one is dark red up to deck & black above, the longer one is being painted with pearl grey acrylic, a self-priming porch & floor paint, as apparently 3D printed hulls are porous enough that they absorb a lot of water.

Hi Herman. My Puffer has a steam plant. I custom built a vertical boiler, a 40mm propshaft and re purposed an SVS 10mm x 10mm engine. Engine and boiler both occupy the same place as full size. The boiler will be looked after by an engine managment system that monitors water level, pressure and feed water tank level, controlling a servo mounter gas valve and electric boiler feed pump driven by a 300 rpm geared motor....

The Puffer is a charismatic and much-loved, working boat with character, and as per the real thing it has a steam engine. If you would care to check out my harbour you will find that all of my boats have steam engines, and not the easiest thing to install as you can see from my photos. I would be very interested in photographs of your club's puffers. Regards, Gary.

Puffers are a very loved model in our club. Most of the models do have a steam engine

Here's my Sealight under construction I went for red oxide and black for the hull, light earth for the decks and the superstructure will be buff...

I opted for Mountfleet Highlander as it is a little larger both in price and size. The hull is in most cases Red oxide bottom and black top, and the real thing looks a bit like this, and my personal choice for deck and steel superstructure was green, the wheel house being hardwood timber.

Hi Guys,
I’m in the process of building this classic workboat.
I am looking for advice on the type and suitable colours for the hull and deck.
From the photos I have seen the deck and lower hull seem to be red oxide and the upper hull a matt black. I would appreciate any comments from anyone who may have built this boat.
Thank you. Rockbag👍
