Wez, if you have a razor saw it will be easier to cut out the roof than using a craft knife.

Thanks quattroo that’s what I was looking for and yes Colin h told be about the extra bulkhead I’ve taken that out before I came out before so it’s pretty roomy in there now just at B&q pricing up some more ply to do the cabin just need to decide when I’m going to do the major surgery lol will do the bolt and screws idea after Christmas when I completely strip down for repaint and fittings but at least if I do it that way they will be easier to take off for updates

The windows are a reference also, as the cabin bulkheads sit just beyond them.

If you take out that central one which has been added and then cut the roof out flush with the other two it will be right.

Here's mine, but ignore the bulkhead to the rear cabin as it was modified and repositioned as it was going to be a Sport.

Obviously you will need a cockpit floor as well.

Morning Wez, have you printed the plan out to your scale as that should give you the sizes you want. The drawing was based on the original Fairey drawing so they will be the same.

I think it's safe to assume, being a kit, that the bulkheads are in the correct positions and therefore the cockpit will be between the front cabin bulkhead and the rear cabin bulkhead.

Can you post a photo of the underside of the supetstructure and the inside of the hull.

Chris

Hi Wez, try contacting Fairey Marine, they have been very helpful in the past with information I needed for my wife's Swordsman.
Cheers Colin.

The only thing I’m trying hard to comprehend is the actual size to cut the top for the cabin I think when he first restored the boat the top was never cut out so he just did what he thought was best I’ve always had a thing for the huntsman so I know a bit about it just not the size and scale of cockpit as I’m going to do a lot in there well planned in my head that is lol

Good idea that chris but trying to get the old boat back to looking like the original huntsman don’t get me wrong I do like the sports model but think it was after my uncle passed away a few months ago he used to have the same boat and he was the one that got me into boat making and trying to stick to originality ,but stuck without him at the minute but trying my best to do the boat justice and out club site on Facebook aren’t that helpfull think I’ve had more input out of everyone on here since I joined and always appreciate help and any input

Just noticed Wez, looking at the photos again, that the rear deck is longer than it should be!

You could go the whole hog and convert it to a full open cockpit Sport version as used for racing!

I think they look great and my build started off as one but as I sold my big one I changed it to the more usual aft cabin version. Also I have a number of big cockpit Faireys - two Huntresses and a Huntsman 28.

You might think it is too similar to your previous Huntress though?

Well it had to be done as he says with heart in mouth sorry to last owner but needs must it had to go that cabin was far too small and stuck together with enough glue to bring the titanic back to the surface ,the two hatches are coming along and the rear new tri windows going in ,grab rails next out of mahogany
