Hi Cash, I remember this from the late 1950's early 1960's when it was featured in Model Maker magazine. I was in my early teens then, but it seemed like something from the future. I was still fiddling with cotton reels and rubber bands at the time !๐Ÿ˜‰

    Thatโ€™s a โ€œblast from the pastโ€.

I had forgotten about the Taplin-Baker Hydrojet.

Was it anything to do with the maker of the Taplin Twin two cylinder Diesel engine ?
    Never too old to learn

Hi yall. Did a little trading this week with a buddy of mine. Traded a boat and a kit, got money in the pocket and a box full of goodiesโ€ฆ.including an RKH Products Taplin-Baker Hydrojet. Did a little research, found a little info on the STOCK Hydrojet, but this thing is a unicorn. Itโ€™s NIB, has the gaskets and Taplins instruction sheet, but thereโ€™s additional paperwork that states it was modified by RKH products in Dallas, Texas, and goes into detail on the mods made. Iโ€™ve been in this part of Texas all my life save the 5 years I was at Ramstein. Never heard of RKH products. Canโ€™t find ANYTHING on the net. Nada. Apparently the mods included a stronger 3/16 shaft, a different impeller, and an oiling tube for the internal bushing. Now, it would be fun to set this up in a boat with a brushless outrunner on say, 4-6 lipo cells and just go to town, but thereโ€™s cheaper and readily available alternatives for that. I donโ€™t really collect much anymore, so Iโ€™m probably going to put this up for sale, but being itโ€™s modified I donโ€™t know where to start. I donโ€™t want to give it away, but I donโ€™t want ask too much, and in the off chance I keep it, I would really like to know some history of this thing. If anybody has any info Iโ€™ll be truly grateful, and like my Pa used to say, โ€œIโ€™ll dance at your weddingโ€
