Quick update on the Yorkshireman, yesterday I started to try cleaning the anchor windless, the first item that fell off was the brake levers then the motor, in the end the windless was just a lot of parts on the work bench.
Just glad that the Aziz has the same type of windless so I do have the assemblie drawings for it.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

Thank you Stephen for this info, i will give him a call.
I had to do the same on my Tsekoa, I can only put it down to age, as a lot of the W/M fittings just full apart when I touch them.

I have been working on the refurbishment of the Model Slipways Yorkshireman tug, most of the hull paint has now been removed, in doing so I have found that all the rudders are of W/M also one of the skeg’s had broken, so I will now have to; 1 make two new rudders – 2 make two new skeg’s, what more will I find with this refurb?

Hi Ronald
I have tried cleaning the windows, the thing is I can only cut out some of the W/H floor, as a lot of the W/H if fitted out.
Talking of windows I do have to make the wipers and motor box.

Ronald thank you for the photo's, so far I have just cleaned the deck I am still working on the wheel house then it will be the railings, yes I have gone overboard (pun intended) with the rust on the hatch, as for the deck I still need to do more work on it, just waiting for the weather to improve so that I can get outside to do more cleaning and some painting
Fred repaint.

Hi One & All
I have now finished doing the cleaning of the Yorkshireman, all the new elec parts are on order, so the next thing on the to do list is repaint the hull, now I am thinking I just may do the top of the hull Yellow, time to play in paintshop to see how it may look.

Hi One & All
O.K with the old brain box in gear, I have worked out just were the wheel went.
One thing that I am not happy with are the hand screws that are used to move the Crain about, so I was thinking that may be if I made a small box with two handles and some pipe I could make it look as if the Crain is hydraulic.

Hi One & All
I am in need of your help again, as I was cleaning off the crap from the deck, I found under the Rib on the starboard side a small wheel, as it is made of whitmetel I can only think it has came from the crane.
If you have made the Yorkshireman and have her, could you please have a look at the crane and may be take a photo of the inboard side of the crane so that I can refit this wheel back onto the crane in the right place.
Thanking you for any help you can give

Hi One & All
Thank you to Ian for finding the Action diagram of the wiring layout (see Action Electronics) so later on today I will start trying to sort out the rats nest.
In the mean time I have started on cleaning up the crane deck, I used white vinegar to help cut through the dirt and grime, it made short work of this, also it showed up just how bad the crane was made, will have a look to see if I can remove the crane safely to sort it out.
That is it so far

As someone who does a great deal of model boat restoration work, I have to agree that your project is going to be labor-intensive, but possibly worth the effort. It may be true that restoring a boat in this condition might take longer than building new, but what you have is a highly-detailed scale model that you can repair/restore without all of the hours ordinarily required to figure out the configuration of multiple details. It also appears to be complete, mainly requiring re-gluing, light sanding/filing, and painting. Replacing the electrical/electronic components comes with the territory of restoring a 26-year old model.

Hi One & All
I can say with hand on hart that the state of this boat is all down to age and being kept some were damp, I had cleaned off most of the cobwebs and removed the dead spiders before I took the photos.

Actually it looks like the model was deliberately "weathered" by the builder 😉 to look old, worn out from a hard life - and a most excellent job he did too.

Hi One & All
Thank you for your comments.
I think that most of it will be a clean up job, a repaint of the hull after I have fixed the bilge keels, along with some repainting of the deck and deck fixings, the worst will be trying to replace the lights with SMD LED's.
I am going for a 12volt running system so I need to replace the wiring loom and I may have to replace the ESC for one's that will take 12 volts.

You've got a job on your hands there Fred. I agree about the rusting of the handrails etc which could look just right if retained. Sometimes dealing with a boat like this involves more work than building from scratch, so I wish you the best with this. A nice model though so we look forward to seeing your progress reports. 😉

Model Slipways Yorkshireman Tug

Hi One & All
Monday past I picked up a Yorkshireman from one of the Crowborough MBC members for a very good price £120, he said the it was a loft find, but to me it looks more like a garage or shed find, the hull paint work is all flakey and parts of the deck are as well, I have put this down to just bad prep in the first place.
on one of the deck hatch covers is a date of 1998 so I am taking this as the year that the builder finished her, there is a 40Mhz RX along with two old Electronize speed controllers, the bow thruster is controlled by two press button switches, none of the lights are working and they look as if they are grain of wheat which would be right for the year. most of the hand railings have rust on them which I like that look of. It even came with the dead spiders.
All of the elec's will need replacing along with what lights I can get too.
I hope to give updates as and when I can.
