Not from Maine. These photos from the harbor in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Second photo shows what look like outriggers. In fact they are ship roll stabilizers, see anchors at top of each. These are lowered in heavy wx trailing the anchors to reduce rolling.
Never seen these low profile houses on fish boats here. Could be a southern U.S. style.

Jump, I hope there is interest on this site for building lobster boats. I’ve built three models (search lobster fishing in the forum for pics), have a LOT of boat photos for details, fished (recreationally) for them, & have known several commercial guys. I would happily assist with someone’s build if they needed any information.

Ronald, size & egged female regulations are in place for the fishery in the U.S. Regs vary by state. Although I don’t know of seasonal or quantity regulations some states may have such restrictions. In the northeast states, Me, Ma, & NH, lobstering season is driven by water temperature rather than regulation. That said, Me & NH may have seasonal regulations that I’m unaware of.

In Canada the Lobster season is regulated with seasons, quantities, size, and if a female has eggs it must be returned carefully to the ocean.

Do you know if these regulations apply to US lobster fishers?

I believe the lobster season is over in a few days in Nova Scotia and then it’s crab season.

Some additional photos. These from Portland, Maine & are mostly near-shore, off-shore boats. The fourth pic is of an off-shore Cape Islanders style boat; a serious fishing machine!
Quite a contrast to the Perkins Cove boats.

Makes you want to go out (or online) and buy the classic Midwest Lobster Boat kit!!!!!!! Both the 31" Boothbay/Winter Harbor kits were classics IMHO.
Maybe even the old Dumas kit as well!
😉👍

Ron, your post illustrates the difference between the Nova Scotia Cape Islanders & most of the Maine boats. The Cape Islanders have the very distinctive stepped shear. They are also higher in the bow. I said “ most” Maine boats since there are more & more CI style boats fished by Maine lobster fishers.
