That all sounds very promising Gav, I'll keep all this information in mind when I start putting it all together, cheers.

Hi Bill. Yes I think they are ok for short bursts.. that pic was of the mk1 version.. the ones I use now have a kyosho brushless motor .. with a 2.3mm shaft. Same size as pump ,so I just filed a small flat on the end of shaft for the drive gear and made a adaptor plate ..This has worked extremely well.. got over 150 hours running on the clock ..👍

I've ordered a pump and scrounged up a bit of copper pipe to start experimenting with, I never considered the possibility of the motor over heating itself but as I said in an earlier post, hopefully I'll only need it to work for a short burst 🤞. I like the look of your conversion , a nice job, I'll keep it in mind for if the worst happens. Cheesey.

Ok Funny 🤣. I brought four of these pumps for water cooling motor and ESC in my boats ..cooked two of them running continuously for half an hour... Running on a 3 cell lipo .🙄🙄. ..So I modified them ,the pump part is good quality ..not so much the motor ..be perfectly ok for short bursts ..the pic below is of the first one I converted to brushless motor .

Ok sorry about that 😆 I'm safely out of range..
I bought a MFA/COMO 12volt pump years ago for an unfinished project, it's part number is 650 and at the time it was £7.95.
I don't know if they are still available 🤔.
All the best with the project. Steve 👍..

You might like the idea Steve-s, it's the consequences that scare me 😖. I'll play safe n buy one.

Awww I liked the idea of pinching the wife's windscreen washer pump and the consequences that might occur later on. 😀😁😂..

Many thanks GavJ, I'll order one of those pumps and play about testing it. Sorry if I was a little slow replying, I've just had a few days away sailing with my son. I'll let you know what happens next. Cheers.

You will need one like this type ..there are two small plastic gears in these pumps ..and can pump water in both directions .

Hello GavJ,
Thank you for the prompt response. The idea of a screen wash pump sounds quite attractive, my wife's Fiat 500 has quite powerful windscreen jets so that would be a good starting point, wonder if she'll notice😀. I'm a good way off from needing such things yet but I'm trying to think ahead for the layout in the hold before I fit the decks and make it awkward to work in the enclosed space. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi Bill , could try a geard windscreen washer pump and pump water from one side of hull to the other ..with a forward -reverse speed control .cheers ..

Can any of you fine chaps help me please ? I've started building a 1:24 model of a Thames sailing barge, not got very far yet but I am wondering if it's possible to build in a couple of small, discreet water jets, one either side of the rudder. I'm not looking for speed, just something to give it a little shove if I get into trouble on the lake. Any useful suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bill.
