Good Bye Scotland

Sorry to hear your travels introduced Covid to you.
I hope the medication is effective for you.
Contracting an illness while travelling is always a concern, as one is exposed to so many opportunities for exposure.
Air travel, where you are sitting in an enclosed environment breathing the recycled air from 100's of fellow passengers for many hours, always concerns me.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Taste is not great, but juicy fruit gum really makes a difference and a peppermint lifesaver or other flavours.

There are other medicines that produce a bitter after taste. I am looking at the benefits from using it.

Our provincial health plan covered the cost.

In general, Paxlovid is free and is covered by insurance stateside, especially with Medicare. Out of pocket it can cost upwards of $1300. There is a government program to apply for help for the uninsured. Under our current administration that may not last though.

Two of my kids took Paxlovid at separate times and both complained of the awful sense of taste in the mouth during the treatment. My oldest Max who was 34 at the time, also had the slight rebound of Covid symptoms after the Paxlovid run was over. My oldest daughter (31) did not have the rebound effect. Both say they would never take it again for the "taste" issue.

My sister-in-law (59) had the terrible taste in the mouth side-effect with a general nausea for the first couple of days and had a rebound effect too, but it did help with the overall Covid effects.

In general, for over 65 folks it can cut down on the severity of the Covid infection and is highly recommended with most general practitioners.

BTW: My wife and I just got vaccinated last week.

I was intrigued as I had not heard of Paxlovid before. It is available on NHS free in UK.
The test data shows how very effective it is.
How much does the medication (5 days) cost in US?
I read data from 2022 which suggested $530 per 5 day treatment. Under health care insurance is that free?

That’s not the way to have a welcome home. All the best then.
