During our brief time in Stromness, Orkney, I took photos of this vessel which sparked a search of various vessels on Facebook, Google, YouTube and the Scottish Fisheries Museum, the museum in Wick and various knowledgeable people.
I have tried in many ways to make connections with the owner of the vessel, Comet, seen in Stromness, but with no success. I have emailed his company, made friend request on his Facebook page, sent private emails from his contacts. Short of writing a letter which would probably be placed in the wastebasket.
So, I have launched into my own way of creating a vessel that has been working in the grime and soot with no time for spit n polish.
Not finished with it yet, the hull is certainly not going to remain White!
The idea, came after making repairs to the deck and then not being able to match the original deck colour. Which by making it dirty the wheelhouse would be out of place if it remained clean, so it got dirty too!
Did you see? The deck on the Comet was painted Gray! The wheelhouse is a reddish brown when out of the water.
The vessel had been used in a filming set for the tv series.
The current wheelhouse you see here in Stromness is steel, which has been painted to look old panelled wood. You can see it being painted in the YouTube video.
