Hi, in your vessels is the AZIZ for Sale? I had an Aziz tug which was built by one of our Club members Dave Woods Who sadly passed away 5 yrs ago before managing to complete it, my wife and daughters bought it for me for my birthday, it was 2/3rds complete, as yours is, I had sailed it, but as you say needed a bow thruster, which I duly fitted, and also canged rear deck as it wasnt as watertight as could be, anyway I had just completed fitting full lighting system and I also put a brass plaque on the wheelhouse with the inscription (Capt. Dave Woods,RIP. 2019.) in Tribute to a gentleman who sadly died before his time. When I had nearly finished it, before the lighting was installed, we had a Regatta and I took the Aziz there. During the Regatta a woman came uo to me and said, My name is Liz Woods, that boat was my Husbands pride N joy, He Bought the kit lots of years ago, but!!! And then she said Dave if he's looking down, will be really pleased Someone has finished his boat to that standard, and said I didnt want to come as it would have brought back memory of him passing but my friend said come with me Liz, her comment was then, I saw the boat, but turned away as memories? But then my friend said its Got Daves name on it on front of cabin, so I came back and looked at it, She said Thank You, from me and Dave, its laid to Rest, and lovely to see, I had aso converted power system to 12v for motors and separate power plus switching system for lighting and diesel sound system. BUT IT IS NO MORE!! SADLY,we had a house fire 2 yrs ago caused by a Brand New battery charger for a Lap top which I had in 2nd bedroom I was ysing as my model room, Luckily we didnt lose whole house, only upstairs, 4 windows,4 interior doors with frames all plaster ceilings and insulated plaster walls, But luckily, I had used mistakenly whilst treating ceiling an roof trusses some what I thought was wood treatment, but was in fact fireproof Liquid so still have a full roof and shell!! and a house ro renovate!!
But as said Sadly, No Aziz which was My Pride n Joy, a Keeper, and would have been passed on to my 14yr old Grandson whos also into Boats, Planes, R/C and has helped working out voltages amps etc for power and lighting as whiz kid in Maths Physics, Me I have Discalcula! Like Dislexia, but with numbers. Anyway sorry for long email, Have you still got Aziz and how much are you selling it for, not much I hope as have had battle with house n car insurers, (dont know why we pay insurance, theyre like Betting Companies, you pay money in but get B all back, they tried not to oay Anything as said charger was left unatended, I said yes but everyone leaved lap tops battery powered hair curlers drills etc "unatended" anyway B all back frm what been paid in over years, Daves/My Aziz which I want to replace eventually, even if I have to go into hock to buy a nearly Comp. one, Havent time or money to build one from scratch but have all notes pics to replicate Dave's/my work Anyway if for sale how much n is a keeper, can send pics n video to back up msg,

Good evening. The PortBalne was originally built from a kit yes. And I believe is still made, the manufacturers are mobilemarine models of Lincoln, England. Have a look at their web page it’s rather informative.

Good evening. Your right chugalone100 I don’t think I did a blog for the rebuild of the Portbalne. I have found some photos though, of the before and after regarding the supa structure and bridge, plus the test runs when complete.

Sorry, Mike:
Looking through my old pictures, I just remembered that my ill sister, who had dementia, once asked me to build something for her because she didn’t want to forget me.
This is the model I built and gave her—a Grand Banks Dory, 16" scale: 1’.
It reminds me how meaningful these builds can be, beyond the craftsmanship itself.

Mike:
I like your way of finding new homes for your completed models.
In my case, I only have a son and no grandsons, so I have had just one opportunity to give a model away. Knowing how much my son enjoys his work as a coder, I named the model “Algorithm” and made a dedication plate especially for him.
When I presented it to him, he appreciated the gesture but explained that he simply does not have the space for it in his apartment. That moment made me realize that these models often end up staying with us longer than we expect.
For now, the model remains in my dining room—a quiet reminder of both the build and the intention behind it.
Kind regards,
Julian

Rogal,
These are absolutely magnificent models; each one is a real showcase of your craftsmanship.
Port Balne completely stole the show for me; it’s a stunning build and easily my favorite in your collection.
I searched the forum for your build log on this tug but couldn’t track it down. If you have a link, I’d be thrilled to take a look at it.

Hi all!!
Yes, but I did it differently.
Each of my children has a boat with their name on it, even my grandchildren are not spared. That's how I solved my problem.
Selling is one thing, but if it's a real enthusiast, I think that's okay.
Rogal, it hurts a little, doesn't it? Be honest...
Your fellow model builder,
Michel-C.

PS: Why are you so far away . . . 😭😭😭
if you don't ask, you won't get an answer!

Good afternoon everyone. with a harbour of 12 boats and 2 in the stocks, I have them standing on my work desk, tool bench, 2 side tables even the top of my cool box, so I picked at great heart searching these 4 plus my Tyne lifeboat thats waiting to go to its new harbour already. As of this morning I’ve sold 3 of these 4, just the Olga4 to find a new home for, I’ve got her sister yacht Inga4 on the shelf.
