Hi, RossM if I did that, I would probably loose half of the parts.☹😂
I need to spend some time relearning FreeCad so that I can print some of the boat bits like window frames and cowl vents to the correct shape and size. I didn't keep up the practice with it and so it's back to square one.☺ That's why I got the 3D Printer kit in the first place.

I built my "hut" over 50 years ago and stretched a tarpaulin over the top to stop condensation before covering it with galvanised metal sheets. Then years later it became a "shed" Then, when I had to replace the old rotting metal sheets, I extended the height by 6" (150mm) to give me a bit more room for storage. Then because I had bought a 3D printer and printed some key tags, my shed suddenly became a "work-shop". Sounded much more posher 😆.

To continue with the confessions I used a small brand new paint brush to paint some 1/24th scale figures and when I reached up to get a bottle of thinners of the top shelf to clean it, it had vanished 🐥🤔. The first thing I did was to look on the floor as that's where most of my tools finish up - also suffer from enhanced gravity syndrome -Chum444, ☺ I looked everywhere but no luck!!
I came back into the house, had my supper and went to bed puzzled 🤔🤔..
I found it the next morning when I was getting dressed, it dropped out of my sleeve. Because it was winter, I had worn an extra woolly jumper and it had somehow managed to get up the arm. That was a big relief-- not loosing my marbles after all 😂😂😆.The paint was well and truly dry so it went in the rubbish bin 😐☹😞.

I have a gravity force multiplier in my workspace that lurks in some hidden spot. Most everything I lose ends up being on the floor! First place I look.If it’s not there, I’m in trouble.🤨

My shed feels the same way 😀way too much adding than removing stuff... I now have to edit my Asian shopping basket every time.. Just so many goodies to build with even stuff I maybe would never get round to using is on a shelf or box

A friend showed me a simple bang bang type noise it was a small tin and it was hit by a slightly flexible arm via the prop shaft it was under the s/s and sounded quite good. No electronics just a tin box acting like a drum.

Well, I have the same problem, but on a different level. Sometimes, in the heat of building, I lay down a tool, turn away, go to pick it up and can't find it on my bench!! Usually it's an xacto knife, or an Allen wrench. Sometimes i go looking for something in my collection of parts and pieces, it's NOT where I think I stashed it, but usually where it should be.
I will reorganize my shop on occasion, everything has a place and in its place. Yep, that lasts about 6 months or one build, whichever comes first...😄

See my post #13, this is a recent acquisition, it used to be a decorative model sitting in the sellers bedroom. Built by a neighbour probably in the 1950s, judging by construction, which is bread and butter.
Lots done to keep the water out as paint over dodgy joints can be deceptive. When I tested with thinned varnish by pouring in an egg cup full it poured out the bow section. It was the character of the model I fell for! She is 24 inches long 600mm to you young ones. Advertised for £12!!! Who could resist?

The model is built to Underhill plans for the Ring Net fishing boat. I replaced prop tube and shaft used an MFA 6 - 12 volt 385 motor and a small prop. ESC is a cheap Aliexpress special. After second outing at 7.2 volts I thought another volt would be good.
I used a buck converter with 2 receiver batteries 9.6 volts i/p and o/p adjusted to 8 volts and it does not disturb the esc or the receiver. But still the water came in!!!
The test you see is lead weight to get to waterline and kitchen tissue inside to see where water coming from. It was at the stern, more varnish inside and another coat of E-ze-kote outside which seems to have worked.
She runs for most of an afternoon on 2 off 1300mAh batteries, They are marked as 3500mAh but the Chinese are known for poor translation into real speak. They were cheap at

That's funny I have the same problem with pond water, it is much further away than it used to be. I thought that I was growing taller but colleagues tell me, if anything you are shrinking!
A friend gave me a plastic container lid a month or so back about 3 feet long and a foot or more wide and a useful 4 or 5 inches deep. This now is where I keep my water at a more controllable height nestled between two garden chairs.
If I can get my iPhone to cooperate I will send a picture.

I bought some paint brushes a few weeks ago and I can't find those either! I keep being accused of having too much stuff - I'm not admitting to that!

Mind you I often can't find things in the garage, though I probably do have too much in there.

We've had things go missing from the kitchen and suspect they have accidently gone in the waste bin. And recently my wife lost her metal drink bottle and had to get another. There's been a few things in the past that have never been found!

Hi Roy, I have managed to track down the book in my EBay "what I have bought account" and managed to order the same book from a second hand book seller.
This book was number 7 in a series of 8 ( Warships of WW2-by HT Lenton & JJ College.) Then I found a thicker book which had all the full series in. So I have also ordered that ☺. You can't take your money with you when you... ...go!!💥💥
I wonder how many of our "shipmates" also have a few confessions to make on loosing things in their work shops. 🤔🤔 I will watch this thread... 🙄🙄☺.

Hi it is probably getting old mate! The little grey cells do not get together the way they used to. I thought I had run out of 9 gramme servos went to order 10 on Ali..... just as I was about to pay a note came up and said my discount timing had just run out and it would be another £2.20. I was put out and cancelled the order. A day later while looking for something else I found a pack with 8 little servos still in their delivery packets!

Remember life may be a little tough but the alternative is not so good!

I have managed to loose a book on ww2 coastal defence boats last week ?. It was a small paperback one. I have spent hours and hours trying to find it. I have looked through all my piles of books on boating and model boats magazines, I have looked on my bookshelves, and still its missing🤔😬. I have looked in my workshop, in my car, just in case, and still its missing 🤪 Think I must be going nutty or something🤣. I cannot buy a new-old copy because I don,t remember exactly what its called, but it is/was a very good book on ww2 ships. I also put tools down and spend ages trying to find them ?? I think its something to do with the glue's we use or the wood dust or vapours we breath in or ----or the age we are.🤪🙄

Had a thought that the leads might be in a unit in the spare bedroom where I keep all my chargers and a few other bits and pieces. No luck but I did find a battery charge and servo checker the same as one I bought a couple of weeks ago when buying the replacement motor!!!

But good news. They were in a box in the cupboard I'd only quickly looked at yesterday containing the water-jet for a future build and didn't expect to find them in there! Phew, I can get on with my Huntsman 31 again now.

Can't Find Stuff!

I know from seeing photos of some of your workshops that some of you guys are very organised when it comes to storing all your model making stuff.

I'm semi-organised in that I have a couple of small kitchen units, shelves and a number of plastic containers and pretty much know where things are but the problems tend to arise when I haven't done anything on my builds for awhile or need something in particular that isn't used very often and I forget where they are or what I've got!

A case in point being that over the last two days, on and off I've been looking for some servo extension leads for a build and know that I bought some of various lengths sometime ago. But can I find them! Looked in all the obvious places including a box with all my servos and motors in and other various containers but no luck. I'm going to have to pull everything out of the cupboards and if they are not there have to order some more, of course I will then find them!

Talking of my servo and motor box. As I've had a few builds going on over the years I keep a list of what was planned to go into the various builds e.g. motor, servos, ESC, battery etc. so that I could buy those in readiness and have some spare servos etc. Part of the reason for this is that I was caught out with some alloy motor motor mounts I liked to use when the supplier went out of business. I sourced some similar from China but the angle of the mounting is different and didn't suit the base for the the motor mount I'd already built into the boat. And with the Panama Canal delays we experienced a couple of years back I thought it a good idea to stock up on servos, motors and ESCs for present and future builds as I've pretty much standardized on manufacturers/suppliers for these. I took a flyer on what servos I needed and in going through the box now, which was previously in two boxes have realised that I have got a few more than I need, even with spares! And there's a motor in there which is the same as one I've recently bought for a replacement for my Huntsman 31 build! Doh!

Also, as I've added some more to my future builds and don't have the ESC's for those so I need to get some more. So I'm going to do a stock take, update my lists and get some ordered!
