I agree they really enhance a model and are not difficult, so I was looking forward to adding them, but it’s pretty clear the original had non skid painted floors in these areas, matching the main decks. Having decided (and already started) to do the main decks this way, I suppose I will keep going! I have done planked decks (and hulls) on several past models and agree they are often the best feature of the finished boat!

    Hi Ed,
My experience is planked decks are well worth the trouble.
They are satisfying to build and look great. Use strips though not try to pencil them in. That always looks phoney
    Good luck

Hi Doug. I did actually get this from mturpin013, but thanks. It agrees with the other summary from the RAF Museum. I think I will compromise, using matte dark grey for the non skid decks and redoing the cabin sides in a slightly lighter gloss grey. The other thing I note is the mid and aft cockpits are also non skid dark grey. I was looking forward to making (and have the wood for) a really nice plank job that always is a nice feature in a model! Not sure which way I will go with this one!

    Hi Ed,
    Back to colours!
Going through my archive (looking for something else of courseπŸ˜‰) I ran across this from the Vosper painting instructions. See attached.
White Non Slip on the Cabin Tops!! Light grey walls, dark grey deck.
    Cheers, Doug 😎

Chris many thanks for this detail on trim - could you please confirm which length RAF Crash Tender this measurement was taken off - as you have mentioned both 24" and 48" (?) models...….
BTW being an ancient engineer brought up with slide rules, I can handle any units of dimension from Rods and chains through to mm...….

My apologies I should have converted to Metric. Didn't realise you were in UK at the time

The battery weighs 4.7 lbs. It lays on its side to keep weight as low as possible. The length to transom to the nearest edge of battery is 27.5 inches.
